In some years, the US GDP total rivals the total of all other nations combined. Maybe not as challenging to play...but still epic!

True, but if one crunches the numbers of weapons, I think Britian ends up producing about 1/3rd of all the equipment, even if the US cost is greater. There's also the fact that come 1944 the US was near enough out of men to raise new divisions with. While America had a great home production front from the abundance of cheap raw materials and not being bombed, in 'real terms' one might argue that they were lucky in reguards to their position, and that's why they produced so much war material.

Anyhow, not to start a discussion on that...

...Yes you should impose some goals. The best way for the two superpowers in my mind is to give the other faction very easy wargoals via the victory conditions. Hence its a race to 'prevent them winning' instead. Otherwise you can generally jsut wait till your prepared and go for it. If you have to 'go for it' with much less then you would like, the game is always much more risky and fun IMO.

.

In other news water is wet.No offense, but in all seriousness America was isolated by two oceans after all. Saying America had a lucky position is like saying Russia is lucky for being so darn big and having such brutal winters. Or Japan is lucky for having a difficult terrain for invasion.
Remember know your enemies. Just having a kick ass military like the axis had in the early war doesn't mean everything.

Just as I thought, the pictures are amazing! Quite honestly, I'm looking forward to them a lot more than your actual progress :D 'cause let's be honest here: if you can bring enough forces to Europe in enough places without going over the limit of supplies you can bring in, there's no way you could lose. The only thing you have to fear (except for fear itself and spiders of course) is sending too many troops into a single beachhead. Force concentration is no longer the best answer, you will need to spread out. And hunt down those nasty U-Boats before they choke your convoys! Come to think of it, there's several ways you could end up in a stalemate... Well, good luck then! :)

Dealing with the AI's mess:

title_3.png

seal_at_war.png

The Eagle's head turned towards the arrows. America is at War.

buildqueue_120141.png

PRODUCTION:
The Policy changes made in my last installment were as follows:
Service by Requirement
results in:
• +100% increase in Manpower modifier
• Officer recruitment +50%
• Reserve Penalty Impact -10%

Total Economic Moblization
results in:
• IC +50%
• Resources +25%
• Consumer Goods during wartime -5%
• Money -50%

Heavy Industry Emphasis
results in:
• Supply throughput +105
• IC Efficiency for Production +5%

As a result I now have 1064 IC (a 25% increase from when I started) allowing me to build massive quantities of equipment simultaneously. At the same time, I have enough to upgrade all eligible units, produce sufficient consumer goods and keep my units fully reinforced.

I'm removing some of the builds I've inherited from the AI including:
• Radar Stations - The American AI apparently felt that nearly every major city in the US deserved level 10 Radar facilities
• Heavy Cruisers - which I'm electing to not emphasize as I grow my Navy
• Armor - I'll wait until I upgrade my Armor techs to expand an already large Armor reserve
• Motorized Infantry - I'll taper these down since I'm expecting completion of the Mech Inf tech within a month

And I'll add the following:
• Air Transports - for use with the Paratroopers already in production
• CAGs - adding even more to those already in production
• Aircraft Carriers - to fill out a more modern Navy and replace any possible losses
• Marines - to supplement the Marine Corps already in production or already deployed
• Infantry - always can use more of these
• Convoys and Escorts - to ensure stable supply paths overseas
• Fortification and Improvement of both Wake Island and Guam

distribution_120241.png

DISTRIBUTION OF FORCES:
I'm going to re-organize my forces into three Theatres of Operation:
• PACIFIC THEATRE - to counter the Japanese threat
• AMERICAN THEATRE - to protect the Homeland
• EUROPEAN THEATRE - to counter the Nazi threat

As production builds are completed, I'll distribute units accordingly. It's going to take longer to build up my forces for an invasion of Nazi held Europe, so my most immediate moves will be in the Pacific theatre. Reinforcement of China, establishment of a defensive perimeter and hunt the Imperial Japanese Navy will be immediate priorties. In the meantime, I'll harass the Nazis by air and by sea until I'm strong enough, and well-organized enough to take on the Wehrmacht.

leaders_120241.png

LEADERSHIP:
Since I can anticipate difficulty in supplying large quantities of forces overseas, I'm going to place a heavy emphasis on streamlining logistics by placing High level Logisitic Wizard leaders in key positions. If I'm aggressive about this throughout the entire Chain of Command in each Theatre, I can descrease supply demand by as much as 60%. For America, the problem isn't producing supplies, but delivering them long distances.

pactheatre_120241.png

PACIFIC THEATRE STRATEGY:
Since the Empire of Japan appears to be bogged down in China, I'll take the opportunity to form a Defensive Perimeter south of Japan as quickly as possible. Key points in this perimeter will be:
• Hong Kong - where I'll assist the UK in ensuring it's not lost
• The Philippines - to deny the Japanese and staging area for further southern incursions
• Guam - where I'll buildup both the airfield and harbor and enhance its defensive emplacements
• Wake Island - where I'll improve similarly to Guam
Each point will act as an unsinkable aircraft carrier where I can base aircraft to support the US Navy as it hunts for the IJN and attempts to cripple it. The Marines will be used to capture Japanese holdings south of the perimeter line and protect Australian interests. When these keypoints are properly reinforced and supplied, they can be used as staging points to leapfrog northward and tighten a noose around the Japanese home islands.

Also, John S. Wood is a great armor commander, I usually give him a skill boost in the leader file, but he was a legitimately great commander, often called "The American Rommel", plus he had this guy as a pilot.

Haha...thanks, I'm glad you like. I will definitely check out Mr. Wood. I'm heading down a pathway where I'll have lots of armor units in need of commanders. I'll make a point of featuring Wood and his maniac pilot in a future post. (I really have to wonder what kind of nerves it takes to fly a puny little plane that close to enemy tanks).

I agree. I can appreciate how long it takes to create such impressive graphics. Good luck with the AAR.
Very happy to have you aboard :)

That looks brilliant! I hope the work won't exhaust you before the USA save the world :)
I won't pretend that's not a possibility...I mean it's happened before. But right now I have a big head of steam and dive into these updates with relish. I hope to maintain that level of enthusiasm and fun as I go.

Seems promising. Followed!
Glad to have you here!

I'm hoping the hyper strong Wehrmacht will make things more interesting in Europe than they might normally go. I've never played the USA before so it's all new to me, but I imagine some of the USA veteran players know better what's coming.

Totally following this one. :'D
I'm glad to have you here too!

Amazing work, I'm already hooked and the fighting hasn't started. Don't win too quickly I want this too last.
Don't worry about too quick...I'm taking my time with this one. I was reading Secret Master's Kinder Gentler Germany AAR (very cool AAR by the way) and had to crack up at the reaction people had when he wrapped it up in 5 pages. No danger of that happening here.

Wow! This is absolutely fantastic. The visuals and the presentation of the gameplay is top stuff.
I'm glad you enjoy! I enjoy making them.

Thanks guys! Encouragement is always welcome :)

I'm making a big push this weekend on the next update. If all goes according to plan (which is when...never?) I should have something to share by Sunday.
