so im playing as germany, and as usual i defeat poland and france. i even decide to paratroop england, which falls after a month of fighting. after garrisoning england (NOTE TO DEVS: PUPPETS HAVE NO MANPOWER!!! FIX PLZ!) i turn my attention to the ruskies. as soon as may of 41 comes i invade and attack them. its a costly war but eventually i come out on top in 1943. by 44 i have conquered north africa and india, garrisoning it properly with infantry due to the lack of manpower i face. come 1945 where i prepare to invade and garrison the hell fighting area that is africa then BOOM! dusseldorf gets destroyed by an american nuke.

but wait a minute, where the hell did they send that from? i unpause the game and chase the bomber all the way back to... washington DC. oh god. a glimmer of hope reaches my mind: if they can get a bomber to do a complete travel of the atlantic ocean both ways, then so can i! right? WRONG! 3000 kilometres for the best bomber tech.

look, devs, i get that the AI cant manage rebasing and has infinite naval range. i get it that someone tried to fix it and failed in Iron Cross. but can you give us german players a chance by making it not possible to cross a third of the world to bomb germany?

and dont even start with "oh its your fault you werent guarding your coastline with INT and fighters". well sh!t, if i conquered england and there is no airbase even remotely close to my coast, should i expect that? NO!

Dude, that's the whole point of intercontinental nuke capability: to be imba. If the enemy has it, and you don't, and there's no neutral/ally willing or able to respond to nukes with nukes, you can say goodbye to your cities. Why else would the Americans spend the IC to build the reactor and the ICBMs, and the research time?

Edit: Not quite so much in modern times if you have missile defense satellites, but that's out of the game's timeframe.

I agree - AI aircraft unlimited range is one of the most fundamentally annoying issues in the Hearts of Iron franchise.
NEEDS TO BE REMOVED.

Do AI naval units still have unlimited range, BTW?

Nukes should be powerful. I have no problem with that. One thing I would like to see, though, is a proper representation of the restrictions faced by nuclear powers. It's ludicrous to think that the Americans would bomb London or Paris, i.e. occupied, puppeted or annexed provinces of their allies/neutral countries. For both balance and realism reasons, it should only be possible to drop nukes on the core enemy territory and use them only against a major enemy, i.e. no nuclear bombings of Vietnam, especially if the nuclear power is a democracy. Moreover, the AI should be much more reluctant to use nukes if the enemy has them, too. It could really improve future Cold War scenarios.
