In light of new revelations that Earhart may have been a captive of the Japanese, does anyone think the Earhart event could use another outcome?
I wonder if PDS could make a decision out of this for the US, and for Japan. The US could request them back, and Japan could have a decision to release them or pretend they don't have her and her navigator.Photo is apparently legit.

I was thinking that too. My wife and I are going through all of the Star Treks from the original to TNG, DSN, and Voyager. I'll have to tell her that she was actually captured by the Japanese when we get to it.So you're saying Star Trek Voyager got it wrong?
Photo is apparently legit.
"In the documentary, the newly discovered photograph is subjected to facial-recognition and other forensic testing. It is judged authentic, and likely to be that of Earhart and Noonan. The idea of her being captured by Japanese is old. It has remained tinfoil hatter stuff for now... And likely will remain so from now on as well.
Quite possible the photo itself is untampered. Whether the crouching figure is even a women let alone Earhart is different question. Or if it's even taken in 1937. I can't help but to make wry smile when this is supposed to provide proof "beyond reasonable doubt".
Japanese authorities told NBC that there are no records indicating that Earhart was in Japanese custody.
Yes, well, there were no records of a lot of things, in the Pacific area of WW2.
There's been a few accounts from islanders, about having seen things that would indicate Earhart and Noonan crash-landed at one of the islands.
But that article is pretty vague. Says the picture was in "a formerly top-secret file". But what is the context of that file ? Who took that picture ? When was it taken ? Where ?
The suggestion that the US Government knew about things and chose to do nothing, is also something that needs a lot more backing up with evidence.
It makes for a better story though.
Well I understand why people have doubts. It happened ages ago, in a region which even today does not have any infrastructure. But I saw the whole picture, this is only a part of it, and in the back of the whole picture you can actually also see a plane which is exactly the same Earheart used. And since the face of her associate is more visible and experts concurr that he might be indeed her associate, my stomach tells me there might actually be more to this story. Japan and America were frenemies at that time. If the japanese were in position to prevent an ideological victory to their frenemies, and teach an "insubordinate" woman a lesson at the same time... I mean at that time, they were already massacring civilians. Disposing of her silently certainly would not have been a "biggy" for the japanese at that time, they did way worse on a daily basis and in public.
It's just that you only get to see the option for "aliens captured Earhart" if you have Stellaris installed. When the event triggers, it launches that game with an observation platform spawned around Earth. So you're saying Star Trek Voyager got it wrong?
