If I pre-order Eu4, can I be sent a free bun instead of the DLC?
EDIT: With spices, naturally.

Actually, they just charge you for the sugar and milk whether you take it not![]()
But, not all clients take sugar/milk, so they don't have to charge full price for it.
If they offered free DLCs for everyone, everyone would have free DLC. This analogy does not work.
I never get a fork when I buy cake.Yes. That's why I said "give it to you without any additional charge", rather than "give it to you for free".
I think you're kind of missing the point of the analogy, which is that there are some cases where it's possible to enjoy the product without the [DLC, milk, whatever], the [DLC, milk, whatever] costs a bit more for the company, but nevertheless it's not unreasonable to feel slightly swindled if you're suddenly expected to pay more for it. If you're really finding this aspect of the analogy difficult, though, I could change it to something like being charged extra for a fork to eat your cake with. It's possible to eat your cake with just your fingers, buying cutlery represents an extra cost for the café, and I'd imagine that everybody who was offered a fork would take it; is it therefore unreasonable and entitled to expect not to have to pay for a fork?
A few other threads are already deep in discussion about this. Even the announcement thread itself has a dialogue going on. Plenty of people feel the same way as you.
Think of it like this..... the deluxe edition of the game is only $44.99, cheaper than many other games out there that will give you only a fraction of the hours of enjoyment the typical Paradox game. Simply act like the standard edition doesn't exist and buy the deluxe edition, getting everything!
Shameful where games are going. Then every two months there is DLC where some of it should be included with the game or more with the DLC. For example I purchased the Old Gods for CK2 and yet I don't get the damned portraits or music that should go with with it! No, I need to pay another 5 and 2 dollars. Then to just to put the icing on the cake all that DLC gets 90 percent off in another two months. Way to screw over your fans Paradox. But whatever makes that extra buck right?
I might be overly harsh but there is still way too much truth in what i'm saying. The truth is that EA led all devs here, so why shouldn't Paradox do the same thing? Right now the only one that doesn't is the Witcher Devs...and they have my respect for it. As long as we keep forking over the cash, the devs will keep on doing this. Don't blame Paradox, blame ourselves for putting up with this crap.
I love how people prefer to pay $20 on an expansion with units and music instead of paying 15$ dollars on an expansion and then $2 on the units and other $2 on the music
Though I have to say, release day DLCs are not the best, not because I don't like them, I don't mind them, but the general public usually goes ferocious over it, even if the base game is as complete as any other installment of the series (CiV case). Irrational, yes, but it is a thing that exists and is followed by a large number of persons.
The only way it upsets me is it's inconvinience - there're 25 Crusader Kings 2 DLCs, I think, so the game may feel "incomplete" all the time. That's inconvinient; I can't believe someone buys Russian Faces DLC but won't buy Russian Unit Pack or Norse Faces. Otherwise it's a fine model, maybe requiring some tuning and "The Definitely Final Version" when you're done with the game.
So in order to fully enjoy EU4 I have to pre-order 2 months in advance, find 10 or so friends who are willing to sign in with that Call to Arms stuff and of course buy the Digital Edition since Paradox actually included day 1 DLC that is affecting gameplay. Lovely.
I spend a lot of money (like most of you here) supporting Paradox but this is going way overboard and will likely alienate some fans who don't have that much money to spend on one game. The Old Gods expansion which didn't feature faces and music for 15 euros was absolutely ridiculous. Paradox DLC policy will soon become one of the worst in industry because their most loyal fans are getting the worst treatment since 3 months later the game is 75% off...
