Am I doing something wrong with Byz?

I've been trying to get the Byzantine Renaissance to fire. I think I achieved all the requirements. I have all my cores captured and annexed (except Antolia) and it is 1464. But the event still doesn't fire. Are there anything that I'm missing to get the renaissance event to kick in?

Aye. I have the fantasy events turned on. I may go ahead and try to manually fire the event. I was thinking that maybe the exact that it goes off was a bit random and maybe just hasn't been achieved yet. But its been a decade since it was suppose to go off and it still hasn't.

Once I almost lost them because I had changed my religion. They require that you are orthodox.

I don't think I could ever feel right ever playing Byz as anything other than Orthodox

The provinces are:

357 - Thrace
358 - Macedonia
359 - Hellas
360 - Morea
478 - Smyrna

being orthodox and after June 1453

There are no more requirements.

EDIT: run a search on your savefile for number 90000. It should be in the list of events that haven't triggered yet. If it is not there then either it didn't load or it did load and missfired (although that should not be possible). Put it back in the list and voilà.

I found out the problem. I had several restarts with Byz and didn't realize that fantasy events weren't saved as the default. So fantansy events were not turned on when I thought they were. Started a new game and didn't have any problems with the event firing.

In the new game, manage to annex OE by 1939 with only 1 bankrupcy By far, my best game ever as Byz.
