I'm playing as Spain and my troops always loose when i'm in a battle even though i have more troops then them. one time i had 50k and the opponent had 20k- my army was entirely destroyed. and we had the same Land tech.
If anyone know what's wrong i would be very grateful. it's not very funny to play the game i your troops always fails.

General stats, ruler stats, terrain (dis)advantage, maintenance bar, Military Drill NI. First things that come to mind. If your ruler is 3 Mil and theirs is 9 Mil that I believe is 0.1 Morale per point; generals give bonuses during die roll for appropriate phases, terrain heavily modifies die rolls as well if it applies, and maintenance bar should ALWAYS be at max when at war or morale tanks. Also, I presume you were upgrading units as new land techs were researched and had the proper ratios for combined arms bonus?

Any screenshots? My guess is that they are defending in a mountain area (-4 to your rolls), you are potentially crossing a river as well (-1 or -2), and your general is not all that great (1-2 stars in all areas at best) vs a godly one on their side (5-6 stars), which is another +3-5 for them....swiftly adds up to a butchering of your troops. Oh, and do they have high prestige and you do not? That's another morale boost as well. And of course as I mentioned the Military Drill NI, which is a straight +1 to morale (practically godlike early on). If its late game, they may even have Espirit de Corps for +25% Discipline which boosts their damage output quite a bit.

Also land/naval and quality/quantity sliders or "lucky nation" ai bonus...
What tech group is your opponent? In the early game there are several tech groups whose units are just plain better than the latin tech group
Are you fighting with units at less than full morale due to previous battles?

There are a fairly large number of factors that go into determining combat results, any one of them could be the cause of your particular problem.

Getting wiped out sounds like morale is fine; otherwise your army would have retreated. Or did they get wiped out after having retreated (which is common if you don't have reserves and the enemy pursues)?

Maybe an army composition problem possibly combined with terrain. What proportion of your army and the enemy army was cavalry/infantry?

Suppose they got higher discipline. If they are full quality, then it works fine for them. Full quality meant +10 discipline, and if they got also militia act it is +17. Also if they got 6 star commandant, it gives +29... which makes them winning even without good general, and with smaller forces. And if they got good general, and terrain modifires, this makes them quite unbeatable. Unless you got tenfold advantage.

it's year 1546 and i' fight against Branderburg we both have land tech 18

There is a major jump in combat tactics at land tech 18. I am guessing you fought right before you hit tech level 18, while Brandenburg had already researched land tech 18. Brandenburg will surely be a little ahead of you in tech since it so much smaller. That one tech level produces very disproportionate battle outcomes. Combined with a wide gap in general capabilities, the battle outcomes can be quite shocking.

@Ivanow, I doubt at 1546 Brandenburg has all those discipline modifiers stacked up. I would be surprised if BBurg was even above 100 discipline.

Also, DherA, what terrain modifiers were active (I am mostly asking about if you were fighting an offensive battle in the mountains), and what stats were the generals? That will also be a huge part of you losses. Could also just be extremely unlucky.
