Gateway in the mega shipyard system.

Reinforce: 100% of them go to my single starbase 3 systems from a gateway having 3 shipyards. Nothing to the mega shipyard (which is building a juggernaut).

Pause. Cancel everything. Try again, same thing.

Cancel everything, delete the 3 shipyards off the starbase, reinforce, unpause.

Now, the starbase has all the reinforcements queued, but they're halted, not building—no shipyards.

Can't cancel them through the fleet manager, either.

Always unpause and wait a day after deleting shipyards off starbases or you'll likely send your reinforcement orders to limbo.

Also yeah…make sure you only have a mega shipyard and no other shipyards, otherwise instead of building 20 ships at once (at double speed) you might end up building one at a time (because of that one starbase you forgot had one shipyard left).

your mistake is trusting the AI to figure out basics like using a shipyard right there... in stead select your fleet and rightclick the mega shipyard, then choose reinforce option

not that it matters because Paradox has totally lost their way now

Late game I put a gateway in each shipyard system. That seems to take care of most issues.

How does this work? If they are moving towards the mega shipyard, the game understands that’s where you want the reinforcements to be built?
the Ai doesn't know shit from food but if you have a fleet selected and that fleet has at least 1 ship that can be updated then you will see a 'refit' option when you right-click on a shipyard... yes this sends the fleet to that location

warning: you can also send fleets to a juganouht but if you do this then make sure it doesn't move or your fleet will never arrive i.e, the AI is too dum to notice the 'shipyard' has moved so park it still when doing upgrades

I can't for the life of me understand why ship reinforcement is so buggy for years on end. Baffling.

I too have issues, all the time, every game. Always something. Like reinforcement ships going into the Warp even though the fleet is docked at the shipyard where the reinforcement is made. Etc, etc, etc

I was under the impression the bonus Mega shipyard towards building speed applies to all shipyards.

The bonus is Empire Build Speed. All the MSY has on its own is lots of slots

Yup, you're correct.

And the downside to the Mega Shipyard is that it doesn't have crew quarters.

Yup. If I issue a Reinforce or Upgrade command that results in 25 ships needing to be built or upgraded, I'll end up with 15 of them processing in parallel at the mega shipyard, and the rest happening at the Juggernaut... two at a time... slowly...

The recent Custodian fixes have helped a TON, but the queuing system is still really dumb sometimes about making full use of a mega shipyard.

the thing that bothers me is that, despite not knowing what ship experience is and whether it matters, megashipyards don't have the effects of the fleet academy haha

Edit: yes they do apparently, excellent.

Actually, if you check the code they DO have "ship_modifier = { ship_starting_experience_add = 100 }"! I'm not sure this is actually mentioned anywhere in game though.

Hehe, in my current game I have 3 mega shipyards...

And the game still chooses to build every ship at my original 6 slot starbase shipyard.

The AI really makes no sense most of the time in this game.

Wait, you get +100 starting experience from Mega Shipyard? Damn, keeping that one Shipyard + Fleet Academy in the system was such a waste. Thanks for the information!
