With Hungary crushed under the weight of our “Balkan” alliance the empire has few enemies to concern herself with these days. With extra money diverted to economic development the empire prospers.
August 16th, 1572
Merchants and civic officers complain of Turkish spies infiltrating our provinces in the Asia Minor. The assembly will convene to discuss the Turkish issue. I believe that Byzantine prejudice is the main driving force behind these stories as Turkey has not been a force for quite some time and although they have no reason to love us. After nearly a century of successful campaigns against the Ottomans we have finally eradicated their presence and although any Byzantine should be proud of the result I can’t help but feel we were some how wrong in the way it was orchestrated. In an empire that prides itself in civility have we sunk so low that we are to become Pariahs?
