Hi, folks!

First I have to say, I searched the first 8 pages and used the search-function for "scenario".
Couldn't find a similar thread, just some 1938-scenario proposal.

-------------------------

Okay, my idea:

I would like to have some alternate history scenarios in HoI 2.

Some examples:

1. "Alpenfestung" 1945

One fascinating alternate history issue IMHO is the planned "Alpenfestung" (alpine fortress).
The scenario:
Spring 1945, Hitler and his best Waffen-SS units flee into the Alpenfestung (could stretch over all mountain provinces in Germany, Austria and Northern Italy). Each province has level 10 fortresses and level 10 flak.
Germany has about 20 mountain divs and 10 SS-elite divs. Also their best leaders.
Maybe 5- 10 Me-262 jet fighters.
All of this has actually been planned by the SS, but never became reality.

This scenario would be boring of course, but:

The Allies and the Comintern would be at war! They clash in central Germany while the Nazis grow stronger in the Alps.
Can they turn total defeat into a partial victory?

What do you think of that idea? I had a good time playing as Switzerland with huge land fortresses. I like to defend.

This scenario would be fun as Germany as well as for the Allies and Comintern.

------------------------------------

Ok, I will think of more scenarios. In the meantime let's read your alternate history proposals!

Well, I think these would be for the modders to make.

What I would like to see is an alternative WW2 scenario where Hitler doesn't rise to power, bu instead the West clashes against the Soviet Union.

Another one would be what if the 'border states(baltic states, Poland, Finland..???)' would have kept their alliance against Soviet Union?

I'd say any of those alternate history scenarios should be left for modders to create.

In "What If" scenarios one cannot complain about inaccuracy of the participating units, or similar topics, thats a good thing :D

Well, my point was that since there is no historical facts to get accurate, you cannot say "it was like this, get it right"; perhaps you can say "it should be like this, change it". :)

Reich 5 (from GURPS Alternate Earths)

Acording to GURPS Alternate Earths Reich 5 (Quantum 3, present day 1995), the III Reich (with its Japanese and fascist American Allies) controls the world. The parallel diverged with the assassination of Franklin Roosevelt in 1933, and the return of the US to isolationism. America sank in the depression, Hitler and the Japan destroyed the Western Allies. This lead to the winning of the American Union Party of William Dudley Pelly in 1944.
German troops and atomic bombs crushed the American resistance, and the Welt Axis was established in 1961. No Nazis race into space, Americans develop computers to track their population and Japan explores genetic engenerring.

Other Reichs
Reich 1: (present day 1951) diverged with the destruction of the BEF at Dunkirk. Germany and the US (defeaters of Japan) are now fightinf World War III, having their active atomic research programs.

Reich 2: (present day 1954) Germany made separate peace with Lord Halifax's british government in 1940 and bogged down in Russia util the 1943 Armistice. The US, Japan, Russia, Germany and Britain are rival nuclear powers racing to put missiles on the Moon.

Reich 3: (present day 1970) The Japanese attack Vladivostock instead Pearl Harbour. Without nukes, US restricts itself to "Fortress America", including México and Canada, as Axis prepares for the overwhelming victory

Reich 4: (present day 1988) Leningrad and Stalingrad were captured in 1941. Germany and japan developed atomic weapons in 1945, conquering the US in the 1950's. In 1979, the two superpowers fought a global thermonuclear war, and while germany was victorious, it is still trying to impose order on the smoldering rubble of the world

In the same book we can find several Dixie worlds where the CSA still exists, and a much different 20th century made by the marriage of Nikola Tesla and Anne Morgan.
Other: you have the novels of Harry Turtledove concerning the Draka.
