No, you just have to put it on a server that's accessible from the web. Then you can create an image link.

Sorry to sound ignorant (which I am when it comes to website, server stuff), but how do I do that? And what servers do you suggest?

Hey guys, those of you out there who will still bother to read this, I'm back! GCSEs ar finally over, and I have the game!

All I need now is the help of some people in helping me write events. If no one applies, fair dinkum. I'll struggle on myself.

You need to either 1) Register your own url and then get space for it on a server (money is required for both, although many registrars now offer free server space for a limited time after registering) or 2) Get a personal webpage from one of the many companies providing this service.

I personally think that a major limiting factor on Mongol expansion into Europe in this counterfactual would be the (comparatively) limited amount of grazing lands west of the Hungarian plains.

Nomad armies travelled with huge numbers of horses - each warrior would have his own string. Of course, all were mounted. This meant that the nomads typically ran into difficulties when too far from the good grassland (it was for this reason that Genghis contemplated turning north China into steppe). True, the nomads could campaign in areas like south China - but not as easily.

Tough terrain was the one thing that could stop the nomads at the hight of their power. In my opinion, the armies of Christendom would have been destroyed with little loss. Contemporary European sources commonly mistook nomad withdrawals for nomad "dismay over losses" when in fact they were strategic withdrawals for quite different reasons - such as supply problems - or because the nomads were engaging in "reconnaisance in force" and not invasion.

In fact, it seems likely that the typical european army of the period - composed of a mass of footmen and a hard core of armoured cavalry, but not an effective missile weapon - could not have inflicted crippling losses on a mongol army unless it caught that army on disadvantageous terrain. Certainly the european heavy cavalry was formidable, and if it could catch the Mongols it could probably crush them. Much more likely, the mongols would lure the heavy cavalry away from the mass of infantry through a false retreat, and then overwhelm them at a distance with arrows. The infantry mass would then be subject to a barrage of arrows until it broke, at which point the Mongol heavy cavalry would be sent in.

Without an effective missile weapon or favourable terrain, these tactics generally worked - particularly as European battlefield discipline was often quite low, meaning that "false retreats" and other lures generally succeeded even if the commanding general specifically warned against them.

Additional, translating from my History Atlas: To avert the hungarian thread Heinrich I. bought a truce for 9 years, built in this time castles for defence, raised an armoured cavalry army an beat the Hungarians 933 at Riade (Thuringia).

Well, I left a lot of research in England (I'm at home in rainy Singapura :) ), so that's a bummer.

Well, the reason I said some Mongol units got bogged down was to make it a bit fairer on Frederick II. Some archers came in, got a bit stuck, got attacked by pikemen, etc. ANyway, never mind, the Mongols won, but paid dearly.

By the way, the last bit about the Pope was actually what happened. It really struck me as idiotic. 3 years after the Mongols torched Hungary, he finally says that.

And the mass genocide plays a part... in Hungary. That will be important later. :)

Jeanne d'Arc was burnt for heresy by the English in Rouen in the year 1431. The Judgement got revised already in 1456, cannonization followed immedietly in 1920.

The Eidgenossen (~Oath Companions) invented the LandsKnechtTaktik (~ land servant tactic, lansquenet tactic) and raised LandsKnechtHeere (~ land servant armies). That's the words used in the german language, and I don't know if there are even english names that got used for this. Anyone in german regions knows who the Eidgensossen are, but maybe in English they are only known as Swiss or Helvetians. They crushed seveal Austrian, Burgundian and other knight armies. There tactic where adopted throughout Europe.

In another post I mentioned the german king building force and raising a knight army in response to the hungarian raids, and crushed them finally.

I don't think that the europians are unable to withstand a mongolian invasion, or to find effective tactics against them, though I don't know what the swiss tactic made them so effective. But what I really could believe is that the europians are unable to stand together.

Btw Bulgaria is a revolter in EU2 so at leats you have a tag to use. But I think the monarch names were weird, so you can pick some from that site, it's good ( http://www.bulgaria.com/history ), it has a rulers of bulgaria section :)

I'm not using Bulgaria anymore; Serbia has happily stepped in to fill the gap. :)

I came up with these ideas before I had gotten EU2 and seen all the new countries.

Check your PM.

For those of you who don't know, here are my arguments for having Serbia:

THe Mongols sacked Sofia. End of Bulgaria. THey never got round to sacking Belgrade. Serbs remain intact. They expand, they consolidate power in the ensuing vacuum. So do the Byzantines, who take over Bulgaria. Serbia is also ready placed to fight alongside Magyar against Venice, and also they have a quarrel to settle with the Byzantines over disputed Bulgar territory.

Progress of the Scenario

To those who still read this thread...

Good progress is being made with the scenario. So far, I've

-Drawn up the map, alliances, armies, DP settings, starting stats etc.
-Drawn up monarch and leader lists for all countries (and made five .TAG monarch files so far)
-Drawn up a huge list of ideas for events.

If I keep on at a hard pace, the scenario may be done *fingers crossed* by early September.

If you need any help ask, i am working on a very similar scenario.

What scenario is this? :)

I've decided to step up the speed from before, after discovering that Seductive Queen stole (some) thunder with her "Hordes from Hell" scenario, which seemed poorly done (i.e. loose ends left in the .eug file)

The working title was "storm from the east" and it was about a united mongol empire. I hadnt really done a great deal except work on the concept but it seems you pretty much did it all :)

ETA is to be delayed, prob. October...
Been too preoccupied with Legion, Warcraft III, thinking of my girlfriend and reading.
And some events are bloody well being uncooperative.
