Added UPD with idea for event.

If we talk alternative history, it is not too hard to see a scenario where a large number of Soviet army and bureaucracy leaders freaking out over a new round of repressions, and banding together to kill Stalin. It is, vastly more plausible than German Kaiser return, or Austro-Hungarian restoration.
And this is exactly I'm talking about, when wrote about Tukhachevsky.

USSR and USA could be one expansion, something "Superpowers" themed.

Your USSR stuff got a 1+, very nice and detailed. I like the idea of keeping Russia a potential instigator for trounle, and Germany, Russia, and Britain should at least be the the main locuses of global imbalance.

While I know that it wouldn't have been possible I think it would be some cool flavour to have a chance of an event for 'Anastasia'. This doesn't have to have a large impact on the game but implementing it as a 'monarch restored' +10 stab idea or something would be pretty neat

This might be far out there, but assuming the USA gets alt-history paths too, a Soviet-American alliance could cause Britain, France, Germany, Italy, and Japan to join forces.

I'd rather it be naval themed, since USA involves a lot of naval stuff.

It's too late to argue for plausibility, that ship has sailed.
If "Austria-Hungary restored" didn't tip everyone off, "Communist Japan" should've.

So, if we established beyond any doubt that plausibility is not that much relevant here, what remains relevant is fun that players get from hypothetical new focus tree.

And no less than half of players who'd buy DLC just for new Russian focus tree, would want one with tsarist option.

Me, I just want "totally the real tsarevich Alexei and not just a faker" (samozvanets) national focus as an option for post-commie Russia path.

Alt history should be more about making fair and balanced teams that guarentee 5+ years of ideological struggle than historical plausibility any way. If a Tsarist Russia can cause a long, expensive, and bloody war, it should be fair game if there is a reasonable story behind the "how".

+1, i’d like next dlc to be soviets and having better internal politics and control over the population (also making the population have more of an effect other than manpower.) While on the combat side of things making defensive wars more fun, adding a better and more in depth supplies logistics system, and an expansion to industry like in BICE with food and clothes. Also add in a bigger efffect from partisans and guerilla warfare (maybe scorched earth as well.)

I know what you are referring to. I just wouldn't get your hopes up by assuming from that statement Russia is next, especially if the Great Naval Revamp is actually next in line. The Russia tree is actually in pretty good shape compared to the US and Italy. Not to mention the complete lack of a Pacific Campaign kind of leaves US players with nothing to do and no challenge.

Podcat usually does a general "what's next" DD after a release, he might drop a few clues then.

"The Russia tree is actually in pretty good shape compared to the US and Italy" - I'm not so sure about that, I think that the Soviet tree is in a pretty bad shape.

Also if the Great Naval Revamp is actually next in line, Paradox could still update the Soviet tree alongside it, taking into account the fact that Germany doesn't have anything to do with the main theme of Waking the Tiger and they reworked Germany anyway in the WtT patch/DLC. It'd be only fair if the next DLC/patch is focused on the Naval issues but they still rework USSR as well; the precedent is here.

There were many whites were in exile on China or Manchukuo. Many served in Warlord's armies, both soviets and whites united to fight the chinese in Sinkiang (???? I'm not maing this up https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_invasion_of_Xinjiang) and finally Konstantin Rodzaevsky and his Russian Fascist Party had their base in northern Manchukuo.

Maybe some focus where you rally the exiled whites to invade through siberia during the pwoer struggle and implement fascism/democracy?

I think a nice and plausible twist would be ramification at the End(or the start) of this probable Civil War with some Foci descisions "Incorporate White Exiles" or "Ask for Trostkyte Support" , or something related, as prelude for the really Alternative Stuff: The White Movement was nothing if not diverse in its composition (Democrats, Monarchists, and anything in between) So, after you win Tukhachevsky`s civil war and choose the White Path, you get te chance to either:

*Restore the Tsardom: You crown Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich and set into another Pan-Slavic Project with Options to push for the Mediterranean and Ally or Align the Southern Slavs

*Empower the Kadets: You stablish a Russian Republic and rekindle the Old Entente Alliance in an effort to contain Germany and the Commie exiles that have spilled all over Europe

My guess is that the next DLC will be a smaller one, then followed by somewhat of the size we have this time, and it makes sense USSR redo is in that one. unless its called HOI 5 by then

I think a nice and plausible twist would be ramification at the End(or the start) of this probable Civil War with some Foci descisions Foci "Incorporate White Exiles" or "Ask for Trostkyte Support" , or something related, as prelude for the really Alternative Stuff: The White Movement was nothing if not diverse in its composition (Democrats, Monarchists, and anything in between) So, after you win Tukhachevsky`s victory and choose the White Path, you get te chance to either:

*Restore the Tsardom: You crown Grand Duke Kirill Vladimirovich and set into another Pan-Slavic Project with Options to push for the Mediterranean and Ally or Align the Southern Slavs

*Empower the Kadets: You stablish a Russian Republic and rekindle the Old Entente Alliance in an effort to contain Germany and the Commie exiles that have spilled all over Europe
you have strange ideas of what stalinist USSR was like. No (0, zero) chances. Maybeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it was possible in 20s and early collectivization years, but it\s 1936 and they're political zombies at best.

The transition of power to Bukharin is unlikely

Honestly it's the most likely change from historical. Trotsky had zero support in the halls of power, whereas Bukharin up to 1938 still had powerful allies and a lot of sway. Especially in 1936 he was still thought of as the intellectual successor to Lenin. While removal of Stalin was most likely at the hands of Beria, Bukharin was the only one with enough support both among the party elite and the people to actually take power.

You have an option to go communist as Japan and bring back Kaiser in the Waking the Tiger DLC. It's not about realism anymore.

I am not sure we all know that Soviet is getting a rework next. Last time I heard podcat mention it (yesterday) he said it was OK but with little options. He said much more negative things about US and UK tree. I think we see Nordoc countries and new UK and US tree next.

As I know, there were no real serious attempts to kill Stalin. NKVD worked well.

Sounds like perfect opportunity for an NKVD coup then :p

Joking aside, the game already invents the ridiculous Trotskyite restoration as if it's some kind of historical inevitability, and the ahistorical options are quite absurd for many countries already. I don't want more ahistorical stuff, but I do think we will get more of it.
