The release is less than half a year away. I think it is ok, since i waited for so long now... if the game isn't good, you still can complain and rate it down. But let's give the devs the time they need and let them do it right.

Its obvious in the WWW that the game still has some major bugs to be fixed (such as the never ending submarine vs. fleet battles). Once they squashed all major bugs, then we'll see a release date.

No, of course not. Most games that are delayed that long don't turn out to be awesome when they're finally released.
However, releasing a game prematurely guarantees poor quality, doesn't it? HoI3 was abysmal upon release. I remember version 1.0 that you couldn't even finish because all save games after 1940 were corrupted. The only realistic chance of HoI4 being fantastic is to delay the release until PDS is satisfied with its quality.
Blaming them for failing to deliver a quality product in time is hardly fair. They provided some of the best strategy games ever, genres that no other publisher would even touch. Now that they are apparently struggling a bit with HoI4, people start complaining. PDS is doing everything correctly. They aren't releasing an unfinished product. Even AAA-studios often screw their customers with broken releases: EA with the football manager series, Bethesda, Ubisoft with HoMM 7 and of course the guys from the latest Batman game that didn't even work on the PC.
But hey, they delivered on time! Gotta give them credit for that...
Remember Kant: you can only judge a person based on his intentions, not the consequences of his actions. PDS underestimated the task of HoI4, hence the delays. They aren't releasing a broken product though and that's what we should be judging them on.

When has the final product ever been great? The whole series has been a constant "work in progress" and i expect this new version to be no different. History has shown us there is absolutely no proven benefit the longer a game takes to come to market. We hope and would like that to be the case, but there simply is no evidence of it. People continue to tell themselves that to try and deal with the wait. The game could launch a year from now and be worse than any previous versions. We hope not, but the time factor is no guarentee of anything other than we are not playing the game.

That and plain experience. Vicky2, CK2, EU4 are all perfectly streamlined games with smooth game mechanisms. HoI3 was like a bunch of great ideas on paper thrown into one pot and later trying to figure out how to mesh it all together. That obviously didn't work and PDS learned a lot from that. Their skills in game design and level of professionalism has increased rapidly since then.

C'mon! Just chillax and wait till it is released. All of this speculation here serves no purpose and changes nothing. Enjoy the upcoming spring, have fun with other games, enjoy bars, bowling or billard. HOI 4 will be done soon.

I dont think its a failed series, and thats not what i said. What i said is that the longer the game is delayed is no guarentee that it will be a better product for us.
How do you determine that? each game is its own entity. Plenty of companies produce a good game or two and some bombs to go with them.
In the end i think its going to be pretty much the same as always. A good game, one we will enjoy, that will have plenty of issues that need to be addressed.

Aren't they playing on an old version of the game? I remember Johan or Daniel saying something like that in a WWW episode. Who know what bugs they have fixed since they started, plus now that the beta rolled out for many people to find more bugs.

At the risk of having another joke fly over my head, yes you are. Devs have confirmed it is in confirmed beta and that beta takes approx 3-6 months. I have no doubt in my mind it will be released this year, thought not till Q3-Q4

Yeah I agree, the announcement of confirmed beta makes it pretty unlikely it won't release this year, even if it has an unusually long beta.

What makes you think it won't be released this year if beta started early Feb and they estimate 3-6 months. You think they will find too many bugs to release? No one knows for sure except them and beta testers.

I think you are misreading the comment. The phrase "makes it highly unlikely that it won't be released this year" means that it is likely that the game will be released this year. He is saying that it is unlikely that the game will be delayed until next year. The statement is a double-negative of sorts.

Im pretty confident that the game will be marketed in 2016, even if its loaded with bugs, if the game got held over another year i think it would be killed.
