It is in beta right now, yes it has been confirmed that it is in beta by the developers. Expect the game to be released in later parts of Q2 or Q3.

I did not say that all games that come late are good

But a big game like HOI4 that get very little development time will most certainly not be good.

Beta got accepted on february 4th. So release is between may and august. I hope, that they do a good balancing, bug squashing and ui improvement before release. I'd rather wait till august and have a solid game than having a bugfest in may. I also hope, that they improve the performance (i saw some lagging in www).

People always talk about wanting to wait for a "good" game....so rather then playing a buggy game they prefer to sit here for 2 years making pointless discussions about a game we know little about? I dont see it. We know the game will have issues when it comes out, they always do. There will be patches and updates yada yada yada. And thats when they were working with the same essential game, now its a totally new game, expect it to have issues. Either way its not worth waiting two years to have the game "better", two years means it better be mindblowing. We are gamers, we play games, good, bad, buggy or otherwise. Hell they could have updated HOI3 for us while we waited...

I don't think the release date that will be announced more than one or two months in advance.
Personally, I'm expecting the announcement in early May for a release in June, or July for a release in September. But obviously that's just clueless speculation.

I think Johan once said we will have a release date roughly a month before release. I also doubt they will arbitrarily delay/release early for historical occasions and rightly so.

When we have a fixed date it will be announced. At least one month ahead... And no, it wont be out in q1.

Don't bother going for historically themed dates, just release it the very second it is ready for public consumption.

According to wiki, Hearts of Iron 1 came out on November 24:

Hearts of Iron 2 came out January 4:

1944 – World War II: Operation Carpetbagger, involving the dropping of arms and supplies to resistance fighters in Europe, begins.

Hearts of Iron 3 came out August 7:

• 1940 – World War II: Alsace-Lorraine is annexed by the Third Reich.
• 1942 – World War II: The Battle of Guadalcanal begins as the United States Marines initiate the first American offensive of the war with landings on Guadalcanal and Tulagi in the Solomon Islands.

None of these seem to be themed around the major dates of WWII, and honestly, I'd prefer they stay that way so I get it into my hands asap

Imagine if they had of released Heart's of Iron IV when Johan first announced it's release, boy would there have been some angry post and negative press. I do feel your pain in wanting this game, but do I want a game that has loads of bug's and feature's that don't work the answer is no ( too old for that crap ). The making of this game was announced far too early they should only have said about it middle of last year. I think they should give us the Spanish Civil war mini game as a demo, tie over till release as a form off compensation for making us wait this long, and their blunder at far to early of announcement.

Keep in mind in the past waiting longer didnt necessarily result in a better game. We have had issues with all forms of HOI in one way or another, and now its an entirely different game, so you know there are going to be some issues.

Yep couldn't agree more on there being issues Oliver in the form of bug's, but feature's not working is something different.
