Could we possibly start an hour later at 19 CET. this Friday, instead of 18 CET, because I have a meeting from 16-18?
Then about the ideas of revised house rules and exploits.
Concerning house rules I think we should stick to the present rules as far as possible.
However next game should allow some kind of tech trade specific for the UK in my opinion. Maybe also increase the difficulty a bit. Writing up the house rules like the DEG group would also be an idea.
About whether the surrounding of Nanking and the missing event for the same are exploits my thoughts are these.
The event should alone be activated by Japanese forces taking Nanking not also with a date/year trigger. So the "missing" event is not an exploit as far as I’m concerned it’s a bug.
The surrounding of an enemy capital and consequent lack of supply to the rest of the territory that the enemy holds is not an exploit
Making a house rule against isolating capitals creates new problems. For instance in our current game the remaining French army is isolated in their new capital Strasbourg... a level 6 fortress if I remember correctly, before that it was in Colmar. Making a house rule saying no surrounding of capitals would put the Germans in the impossible and unrealistic situation of having to storm the Maginot line soon after Paris falls, or leave a supply corridor open.
As far as I’ve been able to find out another neutral or allied nation can land oil and supplies in a port present in the isolated land mass of the country having a surrounded capital and thereby supply the isolated units, thereby countering the effectiveness of the surrounding the supply source/capital in a quite realistic manner.
