@Linusz @Tavior once again: the 25 % refer to the number of planets not the habitability of single planets. I'm sorry for the confusion my words have caused.

@btonasse I have played 2.2 for more than 20 hours now. That's far more than the entire life of most other games. So I do think I can make some educated conclussions from my experience so far.

@ayahuaska

How much population you can utilize for each planet based on habitable % criteria is still relevant to this discussion as having more population unlock building which allow you to have more alloy production via more building slots.

Either way all good.

Try this mod: Max Planet Size

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=721789875

It makes all planets size 25 at start of game. It works well with .25% planet spawn games. It is my prefered way to play stellaris. The mod is outdated but still works fine.

And you expect to be able to consistently beat the game after just 20 hours? I think that it's actually a good sign that you don't. But sure, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

No, I expect AI empires to handle the game. Which they do worse than pre 2.2 with the settings I have applied for more than 1.000 hours of playtime. This is not a matter of opinion but of observation and 20 hours are more than enough to observe how the AI handles a game mechanic change.
