One of the specifics of playing custom nation is often role playing. Sometimes a name of dynasty is important, and loosing it is immersion breaking.
So my suggestion is to add a checkbox next to dynasty name, which makes sure every monarch would be from this dynasty.
When normally a "local noble" would come to throne he gets his normal (as for noble) legitimacy, but his surname is always the same.
As for PU's: they could either be entirely disabled, or, better imo, after the country breaks aways from them the dynasty stays the same as it was on the start of the game.

Since one can't get any achievement with custom nations there is no problem with ballance (at least not much bigger than one caused by CN themselves).

How often do you lose your dynastical name? unless theres an event I find it difficult to change them unless I go out of my way to do so or an event happens.

at first i thought this thread might be about people in MP deliberatly picking the same dynasty name.

I would rather focus the attention on general dynasty interaction.
Currently your dynasty is very much just flavour, and there is no direct impact for the players to change, expand or use (exploit) dynasties beyond the "marry people who have no marriages" approach.

I don't agree with this, because idea of EU4 is that you're playing as country not as dynasty, if you desire to play as a dynasty I recommend CK2.

It is only common sense that dynasties can go extinct, this can easily be avoided thus most cases where your dynasty changes is your own fault.

And where did I say anything about playing as dynasty?
Besides, it can't be avoided. This is pure luck which You can hardly even influence (RM, and do not put Your heirs and rulers as generals.). It lack of player influence, only way to avoid it is to pray to lady Fortuna.

Your suggestion implies it. Sometimes it can't be avoided, but most of the time it can, remember that royal marriages also increases chance of getting heir + you can get heirs from events.

No, it's about playing a country with certain dynasty, not as a dynasty. This change still gives You no control over dynstacal stuff (no more than is in vanilla game), it does not add anything to play with. You still control as much as You controlled before.
As for RM and events: as I said, pure luck. RM can increase chance a bit, events are entirely random.
