I really liked how metros were more expensive during launch of sunset harbor. I understand that this caused a lot of players cities to be untenable, but I do feel it was far more balanced.

Nonetheless I find the efficiency of the metro with reduced costs is unrealistically so. This leads players to ignore a lot of the other transit options, this is a shame as they are excellent.

Would it be possible to add in a mod option to allow for more realistic metro costs?

I also do development work, but I do it from the support side. C:S modding is also something I have on my to-do list, but have not started yet. Maybe hop over to the modding forum and ask there? The little bit of asset editing I have done leads me to believe all you will need to do is locate them in the asset editor, makes the edits and then save over the old assets. Not 100% sure there are not some shenanigans necessary to make that work with default assets though, never tried to edit those.

I get why they reverted to previous upkeep costs in patch - because it broke balance of pre-SH cities.
I think that optional is kinda pointless (because many people will switch to an easy mode). However the good compromise would be an old upkeep cost with expensive build cost of underground metro - it wouldn't mess with older saves budget while forcing to use options other than metro.
Also I think that the elevated station & underground station build cost are almost certainly switched - underground station costs 15k while elevated 30k - I refuse to believe that digging underground station is 2 times cheaper than building the elevated one. This should be fixed.
