Sometimes there is no nanite available for you and you need to buy it, but you can't because you don't have nanites yet. Please allow us to buy those resources so you don't need to produce everything yourself.

you can even have a resource (motes) but if you run out of motes, not only you get a situation, but sometimes you cant even buy more!
As long as any AI in the galactic community can mine some, you should be able to buy it off the market.
To be fair though, nanites are so incredibly rare. That sometimes the only node I have is over a nanite world that loses it once I teraform it so I can colonise it!
We should be able to make nanites from dark matter and living metal
Maybe like one nanite for 1 dark matter and 1 living metal

You can never buy nanites, even if you do have a deposit. They just never go on the market, by design.
