Seeing my shia ally (from patch just before common sense) join my holy war against shia persia should not happen.

Allies of other religions should not join holy wars, especially against a country of their religion.

We have updated our Community Code of Conduct. Please read through the new rules for the forum that are an integral part of Paradox Interactive’s User Agreement.
...or at least it should be much less likely to join such a war. They should still be able to do so if they have a good reason (fighting against rival, large gains, they're afraid of the alliance leader, etc). Catholic countries joined the protestant league. It's not unheard of. It would make sense for the coreligionist to gain more war exhaustion, though, since popular approval of such a war would probably be low.
