In HOI3, I'm not sure if it was a bug, but whenever I played against the AI, when I played the Soviet Union in particular, all of the Axis powers would fight in German territory and push with the German troops, however when I played as Germany my AI allies wouldn't do the same thing (or any other nation in HOI3).

2 questions:
1. Can the AI come into my territory and fight with my troops in HOI4?
2. If not with me, will they do it when they are fighting against me?

In HoI III you had to give the AI's a target in order for them to push with you. For example setting moscow as the target resulted in them pushing towards moscow etc.

Yes they can enter your territory. It also seems like that neutral countries with a common enemy can enter your territory, but cant attack from it. I hope that that has changed tho and that it will require military access in order to do it.

You have to set provinces for your allies to take. They wont help you unless you tell them to prioritize a particular province

Just as an aside, can you direct me somewhere that I can learn this? I've put hundreds of hours into HOI3 and I've never known about this, I've only known how to direct my own armies to attack an objective.

Cheers for the responses as well everyone.

I made a picture for you. If you select the target province you want to mark as a objective for one or more allies, you simply press the small arrow at the bottom of the province info in the bottom left (i marked it red) and a menu will pop up. You then simply click on the allies you want to go for this objective.

Sorry for the UI being so tiny, but that is what HoI III (and most likely HoI IV) look like in 4k UHD.

Offtopic but they did just introduce a scaleable gui in stellaris so maybe you will be ok in hoi4 as well.
someone mentioned that they dont have a scaleable ui in HoI IV. Dont know if that is true, but i got alot of problems in stellaris when i touch the UI scale anyway. It basicly breaks the ui for me.

Thanks so much! Do they attack from within your territory or do they attack from different fronts?

I think the simplest solution is to simply set the resolution to 1080p in the video/graphics menu, and I would definitely do that in HoI 3. That UI is small enough as it is, UI is far more important to enjoyment of a strategy game than resolution is. Too bad we can't always have both.

In the latest WWW where they played communist France we got to see Italian troops on the Maginot line and German troops in Italy, and also how UK behaved when at war with Germany while having military access but not being in the same war or allied with France. I suggest re-watching it and paying close attention to AI troop movement, maybe you will come to some conclusions from that? People here (including me) might have misunderstandings and transfer false information onto you, I think you'll get more correct information by going straight to the source. Maybe you can enlighten us in this thread about your discoveries if you find the time? :)

In my experience they basicly b-line from your territory. Lets say you set Italy to conquer moscow they will make a concentrated push for it. I usually set the AI's to secure the flanks and push there, while i focus on pushing to moscow. Supplies are a big concern of course and you can only attack with so many divisions at once effectively anyway.
