Hey people,

I'm quite a while into the campaign and currently in war which one of my allies started and I agreed on that. So far so good, we wiped everything and occupied all their planets. Warscore is 100 and they would totally agree with whatever we offer. And I really want this war to be over cause I don't get anything but unhappy people and this for very many years now.
But my ally just doesn't make peace and I can't because "Only the main attacker or defender can send offers". But I I also can't leave the alliance because of the war and this is really annoying now.

So, am I doing something wrong here? Is there any way to just walk away? Why don't they just make peace?

Wargoal was liberating six planets, but during the war they apparently lost four of them to another alliance (negotiation screen shows that, so of course we can't demand them anymore). Are my allies just very pissed and want those four planets liberated too and don't make peace because they can't get this?

Thanks!

I'm basically having this same exact issue in my game.. I even declared war on another empire to take over that planet, and they ceded it to me... But it still appears in the wargoals for ceding to my ally and they wont end the stupid war.

I have federations being researched now so going to try and form one with my stupid ally so that as the leader of the federation I can just end the war... Assuming you don't have to be at peace in order to create a federation. Its ridiculous that you have to be at peace to leave the alliance, also.

Edit: Nope, need 4 members in the alliance and to be at peace in order to form a federation.. So, this is a rather game breaking bug... Also, I have occupied every single planet of this enemy and my dumb ally still wont make peace.

Really don't want to start over because of this, ugh.

This is affecting me too. I think this needs to be dealt with. At the very least allow alliance members the ability to call a vote to end the war.

Shouldn't really be a vote... Once the warscore is at 100%, any alliance member should be able to force an end to the war.. And its not just my ally's AI that is broken.. My enemy is 100% occupied.. And doesn't surrender? Thats ridiculous.

I wonder if purging their population to zero on every planet so they no longer exist would be a workaround.

Presumably, the enemy AI doesn't surrender because surrendering means handing over all of the war goals, and they don't have the ability to do that. I would imagine a human player couldn't surrender in such a situation either, so that's not an AI bug but, rather, a bug in the surrender system. The allied AI not trying to get a peace deal is definitely an AI bug, though.

Wars are also impossible to stop. I did a game with a galaxy full of lucky nation AI, and got DoW'd by a few factions a couple of dozen years in and was at -100 warscore, but they wouldn;t make peace with me

I saw enough of that during the paradox sponsored streams before release to be forewarned.

My solution is simple. In a single player game or even a multiplayer without enough players for them to form teams, never make a federation. In an alliance, always vote no to any war proposed by your AI allies. If you make the war proposal yourself you are the one to agree to peace terms.

You may need to set war goals that let your allies annex a system for them to be interested in voting yes, but I think that is realistic.

The issue with this system is you often cannot finish an enemy if they have only one system left, as your allies will only accept if you give them something, but you can't make demands other than vassalize/conquer/liberate.

I suppose that depends on how far apart you and your allies are. I try to ally with empires who also border the guy I want to absorb. At the very least the Ally and myself and the guys we will be at way against have to make one large contiguous block, i.e. don't rely on any military access from neutral parties. As long as you have this, you should always be able to end any war that you yourself declared.

It is when you have an ally who wants to annex a system that you yourself cannot reach that you get into trouble. This can get you stuck if you let the ally create the war declaration. If you created the war dec yourself then white peace should always be available as an option even if unpalatable.

Ah, was hoping someone would have brought out a mod that modifies it so that the player can always force demands or force a white peace regardless of whether they or an AI started the war.. Would create one myself if I knew anything about modding.

I have not heard of any such mod, yet, but there is a console command (i.e. cheat code) that lets you end any war. I do not have a list of commands for this game, but most Paradox games have them. I saw either Martin or Knorr use this particular code once during the Blorg campaign.
