Hello all,

Sometimes I tend to observe a game. Either I let it run just for test with no human player to see how the AIs will work, or after I achieve my goal (currently formable nations), I let it run on its own then ...

I tend to notice for very long time that Japan is far stronger naval-wise for far longer, than it historically did. Even when Japan stands on its own literally against all of the rest of the world, Allies are usually not able to even conquer Malaysia and Indonesia till 47 or later, and Japan is launching successful counter-offensives in Carolines and Marianas as well, keeping there naval superiority.

I have tried to find what is the reason, because combined sizes of UK, US, SU, French, Dutch and other navies must be way larger then Japanese ones...

The reasons seem to be following:

- After fall of Axis and when Comintern joins the war against Japan, when all of Europe, Atlantic and Mediterranean is completely safe, UK and US still spends vast majority of its fleet on protecting convoys in there and having strike forces in there

- Allied major ship fleets are only Strike forces, and located on places where they are too far to get into combat (in this case - Oregon, Florida, Pitcairn, Quebec (US), England (UK). Usually main US fleet is on Hawaii, in most games, doing nothing.

- Japan also uses its major fleets usually as Strike force, but they are WAY closer to real battlefield, but in general Japanese major fleets are more proactive and used more often

- Both fleets are set to Low Risk, so they do not engage with each other much... Most of the fleets never meet during the whole war, trying to avoid each other...

- Allies send scouting fleets into areas where Japanese major fleets and naval bombers operate, which get totally destroyed

So, long story short, [after the fall of Axis], while Japan is trying 80-100%, Allied navies are trying 10-15% (US), or 0% (UK and the rest).

This is not observation from one game, but several dozens.

Here is an example of faction map and naval coverage map of Allies, but other games look +- similar :
