Hello all,

I am here posting for 1st time, and i came here to say something to Paradox:

You guys, i hope that everything bad that ever happened to any human being, will happen to you.

For my fellow players, if you are shocked with what i'm writing, please, bare with me and read this:

I was playing Byzantium, one of the nations that stupid Paradox just likes to pisses on with every single patch and expansion.

And as always, i'm trying to survive the Big Green Blob, with 3 marches at start, sound alliance with Poland and Venice.

In my 1st war against Ottomans, i reclaimed all of greek teritories, including Edirne. In my 2nd war, i reclaimed Bulgaria.

In between those 2 wars against Paradox Favourite Nation, i'v managed to snatch Serbia and Bosnia. With admin idea group, everything seemed great for me.

Now, rant begins:

1: Ottomans allied themselfs with MOSCOW. While i understand the machanics of enemy of my enemy is my friend - OTTOMANS AND MOSCOW? SERIOUSLY? Let me remind ottoman lovers in Paradox that in history it was only in mid 16 century that ANY European nation made alliance with Ottomans. That is 100 years of game time. This should be in the game.

2. Ottomans always seems to have 4+ shock general in every battle that i had against them from start till i RQ around 1500. When i RQ, they had 3/6/3/2 general. Just for the lulz. When i get "Get general with 100 tradition", you can bet he will have 5 maneuver.

3. Main rant point: Friendly AI movement is uber bad. I had 30k of my own troops, 12k of marches troops stacked on me, and almost 100k troups with combined Poland, Lithuania and Venice. Ottomans had 40k troups. Manpower was also in our favour, at least 3 to 1.

At the start of the war, i did as any sane person should do, stayed behind and waited for Poland and Venice to march in and kick Ottomans ass. What happened that both of my Allies sent 20k stack, one at the time, on mountain defending 20k ottoman troups. And then they waited for 1st stack to get rekt, and then remain the assault, while ottomans merged and annahilated my troops. Ai kept sending 20k stacks, never moving them in any form of cohesion, always suiciding them on 3/6/3/2 general.

This is not the 1st time this is happening. In every game that i play, i have never seen allied AI move like it has any form of rationality behind it. Always chasing small stacks, always charging in pure defeat situation, never merging with my armies.

I work hard and i love Paradox games, so i always try to buy as much of DLCs that i can in both EUIV and CK2. But not anymore.

I was playing Byzantium, one of the nations that stupid Paradox just likes to pisses on with every single patch and expansion.

Although I like to play as Byzantium, comparing their starting position in 1444 with their situation in real life at the same date, I have to say Byzantium is even more OP than Sweden ingame.

1- An alliance between the Ottomans and christian nations in 15th century just because of common enemies is kinda stupid and shouldn't happen in my opinion, but could happen later in the game.

2- The Ottomans usually have rulers with high military stats, have high army tradition and are a lucky nation so it's expected for them to have good generals.

3- Let's see if I understood correctly. You were fighting your own war with the Ottomans, just waiting behind the lines until your allies do all the work and now complains that they had suicided? Have you even considered after you saw what they were doing to actually do something to win the war? Or did you just waited the AI to win it for you?
Some people say that sometimes the AI do some weird things and a reload can fix whatever it is.

It's a video game. Learn to play it or just delete it from your hard drive. Don't get mad at others just because of your own ineptitude.

It wasn't his own ineptitude. Counting on the AI to behave like it wasn't drunk, high, stoned and smashed all at the same time is an exercise in frustration. And you have to do it early in the game if you are starting as a small nation on the border of a larger one.

An AI that was a little less A and a lot more I would be of great benefit to this game.

Let's see here... *shuffling through some papers*

Ahem, Alright another rant post let's see what we got here.

Hmmm... First time poster..... (Check) Playing Byzantium.... (Check) Complaining how Otto's keep destroying him... (Check) Upset that his allies won't sacrifice their first-born children just so he can expand..... (Check) Wishing the worst tortures on Paradox devs... (Check)

1. Ottomans allying Muscovy at the start is no stranger than you allying the PLC at the start. The Ottomans hate you, for obvious reasons, and the PLC and need someone who can help them squash the both of you, nine times out of ten Muscovy will be that person.

2. Ottomans are a lucky nation, if you are playing with AI bonuses. Even if you have that off, they still start with some of the best generals in the game and will generally have decent generals throughout the entire game, due to events and army tradition that they can generally (see what I did there) keep on the upper end of the spectrum. Albania happens to have the best one, and even Skanderbeg loses to the Turks nine times out of ten.

3. At the game start the Ottomans use Anatolian Units which are significantly better than the PLC and your eastern tech units. Secondly, the Ottomans have a God-tier ruler, which allows them to reach tech 4 and 5 much quicker than the Emperor Constantine XI (BYZ) or King Casimir (POL) ever could. This means that the Ottomans can easily crush a stack that is twice their size on favorable terrain.

4. Throughout all the various forum posts of player fighting wars and just showing off the game, I have yet to see a player send everything they have to help the AI in a war, whether it be an offensive or defensive call-to-arms. Most players simply defend their territory or siege the land that they want, then go wait until the AI eventually makes peace. Yet players will lose their mind when the AI doesn't run it's country into the ground just so the player may acquire another achievement.

Now I hope after reading this your mind will not be filled with such hatred to people who are only trying to make a living off of something they love and want you to love as well.

If this medicine was not enough to treat said symptoms listed above, there are a few home-remedies down below that may provide some more insight to the problems you are having in the game.

Land Warfare Land Units The Ottoman Nation Technology (Military)

Learning to cope with the AI in all of its idiocy is part of the game.

We all want an AI with real intelligence, but that is simply not going to happen anytime in the near future. We need to be realistic in our expectations.

I'm being aggressive towards the OP because they wish ill on the developers because they lost at a game. It's pathetic and uncalled for.

Byzantium or whatever country he is playing is basically irrev.
The AI is spectacularly suicidal sometimes. I honestly don't get what is so hard to understand : The AI should not sit in provinces and wait to get destroyed when there is even a marginally better chance by reinforcing an ally (i.e you). It should also not attack when it can't win, putting itself in a worse position for no real reason at all.

Perhaps there should be some sort of battle plan system that your allies can adhere to if they feel like it. Something as simple as a requests e.g to be defensive near your armies, siege defensively near you, abandon sieges if they are going to be attacked, attack weak armies, etc etc.

Byzantium having 12k troops on its own at that time is a historical. Someone just posted a video recently about the siege of Constantinople, and they had what... Like 7k troops half of which weren't Byzantine? Yeh... They did super well, but died because the enemies outnumbered them 10 to 1.

Note: Byz is only going to keep getting more difficult as the AI is improved, because realistically OE would never lose against Byz in 1444 if it was playing entirely competently.

And yeah, AI armies basically act independently (with some emergent coordination) at the moment, which means allied nations will occasionally be cooperating like headless chickens in complicated wars. It's something I will attempt to address over time.

That's really good to hear. I wish you luck in that improvement ^^

And you're right in that a a much better AI will make OE even better, but then again, so will the Byz's allies. Realistically OE at game start is not overwhelmingly strong - hungary alone can defeat them 1 on 1 at game start. That being said, I think Byz situation is fine - i've managed it every time i've tried, and I wasn't that good of a player when I did it.

Also a non-retarded AI may mean that lucky nations finally get removed, which I can only dream of.
