I have offers from Davions and Taurrians, maybe one other. I’ve been operating in Capellan space and am liked enough to get a 5% discount.

Doing some pirate stuff to try and get into the Black Market.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to manage alliances?
Can you in-ally or change to another later?
How much rep does it take to get close enough to pirates to get into black market?

I would also like some advice on Alliance Suggestions with all the issues with the reputation system since Flashpoint & 1.3 not being to make up bad Rep standing to good standing. Being able to plan out my Reputation ahead of time and how to get that Rep would be VERY helpful.

The Taurians have little to offer aside from a role-playing opportunity. They do not have an Alliance Flashpoint associated with them. Same with the Magistracy.

You can't actually become an Ally (reputation-wise) of the Arano Restoration, so really, there's nothing there aside from system shops.

Good reputation with the pirates makes access to the Black Market cheaper, but I'm not sure if they have any reputation-gated Flashpoints.

Of the 5 remaining factions that you can gain/lose reputation with:
Davion shops have access to two mechdefs that most do not: The Hatchetman and The Cyclops.
Kurita shops have access to two mechdefs that most do not: The Crab and The Cyclops.
Steiner shops have access to the Hatchetman.
Liao shops have access to the Crab.

Davion, Kurita, Steiner, Liao, and Marik all have Alliance Flashpoints associated with them.

I currently plan to go with four different careers aimed at specific alliances:
  • Canopus, Davion, Steiner
  • Taurian, Marik (optionally adding Kurita)
  • Liao, Kurita
  • Pirates
Basically, gearing each of the non-pirate careers towards one of the three factions with a major presence in this slice of space, then filling in additional allies as possible.

You can be Allied with multiple Houses; I'm currently allied to both the FWL and Magistracy, working on FedSuns.
To be honest, though, making an Alliance doesn't really get you much if anything. I was disappointed to find out the Magistracy doesn't even have a faction store.
