Hello -

So, it has happened again. I'm Germany, picking up speed in war against the Soviets.

I have purposely ignored requests from all allies to join the war....

Italy got thrown out of Africa early on; I want them to focus on getting back in which they eventually started to do and they have a front there now.
Vichy France - same as above.
North Sea Empire -- too small. They protected Greenland and Iceland. As the AI will do, if they join the war they tend to leave everything else vulnerable and move most of their units to the front.
Norway - same
Romania -- I don't want them taking land and adding it to their own. I can't improve the infrastructure and supplies get tight.

I get to a point where I have captured Odessa, there are still Russians in Bessarabia along the Romania border. I should have a line of land possession where future control of captured territory goes to me. The Romanians can have Bessarabia back, any Russian territory captured as the front moves to the east will go to Germany. I finally have it set up.

I issue Call to Arms to Romania and they join the war. That sets off a cascade of all my other allies joining the war as I have so far avoided. Romania invites Italy, Italy invites the North Sea Empire, Norway, etc., etc. I immediately see Italian troops leaving their African front. All has come undone.

Is their anyway to prevent all my allies from jumping in like this???? This is beyond frustrating, player has no control of grand strategy. Just another really stupid feature of this game. I have gone back to last save, but lost almost a full month.

thanks

Don't invite them in at all. That's the only way. If you invite one, they can invite all others. The only exception is for puppets you control. If you are Italy and you puppet Ethiopia instead of eating it, then join the Axis and declare on France, you can invite Germany into the war and they won't pull Ethiopia in. Nobody can invite your puppets in but you.

This doesn't really help you in this situation, unless you decide to do the focus that puppets Hungary and Romania. Although your puppets can invite your other allies into a fight, if you call on the puppets.

TL;DR If you don't want your allies borking your frontlines and eating all your tasty supply, don't invite them into the war at all. Or maybe Sealion the UK and end the war in Europe before starting aggro with the Soviets. Then it won't matter how few troops Italy leaves in North Africa.

Ideally nobody called into a war should call others except their puppets. Also the faction leader still should be able to call anyone in if herself is called.

I think it's okay that if someone gets into the war on her own right (with own war goal or getting attacked) she can call anyone in but not if she's got reqested by someone else as help.

Is there maybe a way to mod this behaviour? I guess not unfortunately.
