I concur that stream of consciousness posting is not a great idea. I suggest that one think it through, edit and reread it a few times before punching the submit button.

When posting there is no tone or body language accompanying the post. The emoticons AKA smillies are a rather poor substitute. Something written in jest can be read as an affront by another. Then out come the flames and let slip the dogs of war.

Furthermore, as we are a multinational group, even more misunderstandings can arise when we all use English to communicate. (Aside from the bits of German and French that I read here and there.)

Please, take the time to compose and reflect on your words before posting.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Some people here need a big bottle of sedatives.:p

The best part must be the ridiculous bigotry claim.:D

I agree. It is the best part because it is very true. I have MANY (legal!) Paradox games and only two small pictures under my avatar (and to be honest i didn't want to have even those 2 but i needed access to some restrricted area of the forum). I hate when people make false assumptions like you do.

Well IF they would play the demo, everything would be alright. Thats what it is made for. So as long as there is a demo, you cant use trying the game as an argument for pirating it.
Ohh, and i hate those people that always attack others because they havent registered: Its non of your f..... business...

eur should be a good enough game to stand on its own merits, without the expansion: This thread seems to be suggesting that it isn't.

well, god dammit, it isn't. Nobody's even debating that.

EUR is good enough game in Pdox way of thinking. Pdox do not release complete, finished games, they do release game systems with intentions to someone actually mod them to make them playable.
I don't remember any Pdox game after Two Thrones / Crown of the North that could be playable without mods.

Yes, it's costly policy for players. My advice is: DO NOT BUY P-DOX GAME BEFORE XPACK. That is how I do.

I remember HOI 1.0 - it was completely different game than 1.6c.
The same is with EUR 1.0. I played it a few days only, before I applied VV. Try it and you will feel Pdox. EUR 1.0 is a semi finished "core" for a game. VV 2.1 is nearly finished final edition. It still lacks in many aspects but it actually looks like a game ;)

You can blame Pdox for such policy. You can abstain from buying their games. Or you can buy them in one box with xpack for the same price as version 1.0 a year later, as I do :)

Cheers.

EUR is good enough game in Pdox way of thinking.
You're right of course. That in itself isn't so much of a problem, but I've been getting the feeling that PI is beginning to rely too much on the community and not even bothering to make good enough games...

Take EUR for instance, it was basically stillborn. There was always an active thread complaining how stupid the game is. Normally there would be mods to fill up the hole, but vanilla Rome had so little content and the core design is so uninteresting that nobody bothered to make the kind of huge mods required to revive the game...

Tragedy, really.

There was always an active thread complaining how stupid the game is.

Which, ironically, got closed. Speak about free speech.

Although i do have to disagree in certain points with you Hanti. EU1, CK, EU2, for example, are games that do not need MODS to be playable, or enjoyable.

Well, we are not the EUR and VV development team. We have no say over it and we can do nothing about it. So, you're either gonna' have to be happy with what you've got (EUR) or buy the solution to your problems (VV). While some of you have been busy complaining about how Paradox has wronged you, you've also missed the point of the thread. Buy it or play two thirds of a great game. Forget totally about Paradox for a second (we can't do a damn thing about it except maybe complain directly to Johann through PM). So make do with what you have and have fun with it, or buy the other third and have even more fun.

True, but you must know that, most than most developers out there, PI is a studio that absolutely needs the community to survive. If it wasn't for the active and faithful community, Paradox wouldn't be here today. I'd like to think that what we say are heard by the devs and eventually affect PI's future development.

Well, if that's the case then they must've known what they were doing when they decided to release Vae Victis. It eliminated many problems that were requested by the community. So eliminate your problems... Buy the expansion!
