The degree of difference between CK2-Hearts of Iron is small. In fact, each game is at the core the same but each has its own gimmick that radically alters how gameplay pans out: CK2 is dynastic, EU is, ultimately, geopoiltical, being halfway between CK2 and Vicky, Vicky is the ultimate state experience, and, although I've never really played it, I assume Hearts of Iron is about strategic war.

But I see no reason why these all cannot be integrated into one and the same game.

I also see no reason why this integrated game could not also integrate the tactical battle map of the Total War series as well. After all, I don't fight most of my battles in the Total War series, only key ones. When I would play Total War, my concentration is always focused on the management side. But the management experience delivered there is substantially inferior to what a Paradox game provides. Nevertheless, especially in EU, the ability not to be able to fight your own battles is crippling. I definitely find myself longing for this feature, in such a way that I do no understand why must there be two games, each deficient in one aspect, when there could be one game, which boasts the possession of both.

But I digress.

I see no reason why CK2 should be entirely focused on the dynastic and religious, when it could just as well incorporate the state-running of Vicky 2. Indeed, that was part of a medieval society as well, if not more so. Incorporating the state-running experience of Vicky into CK2 would not diminish the medieval focus of the game but only enhance. Incorporating a greater emphasis on economic matters would not detract the focus of the game, but once again enhance it.

The incorporation of all of these features into one single game that spans the breadth of time four separate games occupy would make one truly unsurpassed game. Not only do I have to worry about my dynasty but also the resources of my lands, the class orders, taxation rates, inflation, etc.

I have always advocated for this but it is always met with hostility. "Why not play Total War then?" Because these games in most aspects are superior.

Well to say that they could just seamlessly roll together all these games into one is kind of an underestimation of the task.

Just look how hard it is for them to please fans with each game, now imagine the task with all the games rolled into one. The fans would be at each others' throats for focus on this or on that, and the devs (who try to take all advice into account) would be caught in the middle.

That's not to say that this isn't a worthy post. I personally dream of the day when I will be able to play a real-time grand strategy take on civilization. But Paradox, though they may seem to be some kind of omnipotent maker of dreams, are really just a relatively small studio who have a very particular workflow.

So, TL;DR: I don't think its a good idea to roll the games into one with the same mechanics, but I do think it is a good idea to make a history-spanning game from the beginning of civilization to the space age in the Paradox Grand Strategy format.

The degree of difference between CK2-Hearts of Iron is small.

Göring falls in love with Eva Braun and assassinates Hitler becoming the new fuhrer, meanwhile Hitlers bastard son (which is actually the Antichrist) plots together with Edward VIII from their base on bahamas on how to gain control of the reich. Perhaps a marriage alliance with some rich canadian girl could be a stepping stone, or maybe its better to join Rommel who has declared independence and created his own african paradise?

Don't worry about making that game. Just make another musical with that plot.

Capture Stalin's son as Germany - then land him and press his weak claim on the Soviet Union.

Although i wouldn't discount the possibility of a history spanning game being awesome,I don't think that it is likely to be easy to make and I don't think that adding in total war battles would be a good idea.Remember these games are real-time,so what would the rest of your empire do while you were winning the battle of midway? You could have an AI manage it,but I don't really like the concept of my empire in the hands of a computer very much.Or you could pause it,but then you no longer have problems with concentrations of forces(like you want have all of your troops attack a province, but you can't because you'd get surrounded,or you would lose a lot of provinces.)I also think putting all of the games into one will be expensive, that is if you do them on the same level of detail that all of the other games are.You also couldn't just use the same feature across the entire timespan, you would have to change them sometime. And allowing this to be fluent will inevitable have the effect of the player overtaking everyone and having WW2 armies and mechanics fighting Renaissance era units. And just imagine how clogged the interface will become.Unless you want to have severely generic options and the like you'll have to have a clogged interface.

First off, if you're going to propose something this big, at least make it a little bit bigger; fall of Rome through the Cold War would be nifty. Really though, how would this be put together? Could it have stages (like Spore)? Could it get away with one interface? Or perhaps a changing customizable interface? Would be it be possible by not raising crown authority to remain in the Middle Ages forever? Also, the idea of Victoria plugging into HOI is always scoffed at because HOI requires a specific set of circumstances. I would be very interested in a converter that plugs Victoria's Great WArs into HOI to played out, then loads back into Victoria.

This was just some ideas and questions wrapped together, feel free to tear them apart. But really, Crusaders Universalis Hearts of Victoria would be amazing.

Well, the idea itself is interesting, but i don´t think that we are ready for this. The most realistic idea would be kind of a mix between Vicky and EU, with various improvments. Then we could (maybe) get a game spanning from the late 14th century to today.

Tying the existing games into one in a literal sense would be an awkward mish-mash of systems, but a take on the Civ kind of "stone age to space age" concept based around some of the systems and some new ones would be really interesting.

The degree of difference between CK2-Hearts of Iron is small.
This makes me wonder if you've ever even played those Paradox games you supposedly own...
Yes, PDS games look similar, but they play completely differently. Those "gimmicks" you mention are made based on the game's setting Taking the management portions of Vicky 2 would never work in CK's mediaeval setting as there were no factories, democracies, political parties, popular sufferage, etc.
