All land in North Africa suddenly gone

Hi!

I've been playing Portugal in the demo and had a nice time expanding into North Africa. Then, suddenly all my 5 North African provinces were handed back to Morocco. There was no popup saying why I lost those provinces. Only one that told me that I lost good administration (or something similar to that).
I have to admit that I am not the most knowledgable about EU4 as I haven't watched any dev previews or Let's Plays. Maybe it is something obvious

Pretty much at the same the war with France ended I was part of. I joined England's war but didn't contribute anything. Is the war leader allowed to give away provinces of his allies?

Yes. The warleader on your side decided to give back those provinces to morocco as part of the peace deal. You'll need to uncheck the "leader may negotiate for us" in the status screen for the war.

Yeah, you can force the lsoer of a war to return cores to the original owners to weaken them without getting any aggressive expansion or overextension.
