Just a question. If there are colonial troops planned, than is there a far possibility, for other nations to have them with some time?
Spain, USA (if they are far right by some miracle), Russia (if it is reborn somehow) etc.

I'm curious, what is the role of colonial troops? Are they similar to militia but with a higher morale and operate in the colonies? Or a sort of foreign legion? Or are they forces recruited from a colony's population and serve master nation? Such as African troops serving on the Western Front during WW1.

Some better pictures for the tanks, and in general a fleshing out of that part of the tech tree would be nice. Definitely would take longer than just tonight though ;)

I don't think USA would have to be far right to use colonial troops. I don't think the US had any far off colonies with large populations, either. The US takes people from closer territories into their own army instead. How does drafts work with their territories? Did only volunteers apply?

Well I read a lot for them and decide to make them as they was historical.

I can imagine colonial troops having less morale since they're not fighting for their own country. Instead they are better adapted for warm and tropical climate.

"I can imagine colonial troops having less morale since they're not fighting for their own country. Instead they are better adapted for warm and tropical climate."

Depends, Gurkha tended to have extremely good morale and the German East African Askari were considered pretty reliable. Some of that might be post-war romantic notions.

What were the condition of their good morale? Were the Gurkha volunteers? Cultural and religious advantages? Did the British thread India well? Isn't that an important factor when colonial people are drafted into service?

You are correct that "good morale" is conditional and subject to the enemy faced, how that regiment had been treated and factors of supply and even year of service (since I imagine colonial troops would be less eager to fight post WW2 for colonial masters). The real question is since abstraction for the entire class of unit is needed to what extent do we portray them? More reliable than milita obviously, but superior to metropolitan troops? Inferior? Better than mountain troops or worse?

Nice!Added to future ideas:)
My main idea here is that in most cases for major countries there is a marked difference in even the same class of tank e.g. the Panzer Mark III with a 3.7cm gun later upgraded with a 5cm gun and later still with the L/60 5cm. While we needn't become rivet counters I think we could conceptualize some way to represent significant increases in firepower and protection perhaps.

Perhaps something like "Panzer III Early" or "Panzer III (3.7cm)" This would however violate the current nomenclature wherein specific aircraft and vehicle models are indicated.

How come so many of the Hellenic generals all have 1 in skill? Had Hellas participated in a war recently or did they just have a high budget for officer training?
The fact is that the most of the Greek officers that fought at WW2, had already fought in 4-6 wars ( First Balkan War,Second Balkan War, World War I, the 1919 Allied expedition to the Ukraine and Greco-Turkish War of 1919–1922), for example Charalambos Katsimitros at 1940 (when Greece enter at ww 2) was Major General (age 54 ) and already had fought in 3-4 wars (in game starts with 4 skill and the top is 6, German General Eduard Dietl starts with 4 skill and the top is 9, he was only fight at ww 1 ), Georgios Tsolakoglou same as Katsimitros in game starts with 2 skill and top is 5, at the other side we have German General Kuno-Hans von Both starts with 2 skill and the top is 9, he was only fight at ww 1 and many other examples...

I can imagine colonial troops having less morale since they're not fighting for their own country. Instead they are better adapted for warm and tropical climate.
Exactly like that, low morale and attack ,cheaper with quick production, very good at desert and jungle terrain, very bad at snow and frozen terrain.

The idea was that ASW technology which includes sonar could gives a very small boost to supply from fishing. That is if sonar and echo localization is related.

I'm not sure, were ASDIC related technologies actively used for fishing prior to the war? It'd be an interesting research subject. :)

Speaking about Italy again.:) It would be nice to have alternative French capitulation of 1940 if Italy would be successful in war against France. I.e. if prior to French capitulation event Italy would control Savoy, Nice, and Tunis Italy could get these areas plus Corsica as occupation zone already in 1940.
