Harald Talmarsson's visions of glory ended in a day in early September when the Lapps decided they would have one more try at destroying, and pillaging Narvik. All 500 of them came to Narvik during the night, and hid behind bushes, and trees waiting for the perfect time to attack. They came in screaming their warcries 30 minutes, and they torched many buildings around the outskirts of town. The garrison was sounded, and Harald rushed to confront the Lapps. A very large gruesome man came up to him in a rush swinging his long sword with all of his might. Harald parried again, and again until he found the perfect oppurtunity to stab the man. As the Lapp came up for another blow he stabbed him in the gut, and slashed the man's arm off. As Harald looked across the battlefield he could see Lapps raping women, and killing inoccent settlers. Harald knew that this was not a place to earn glory, it was a place of brutal killings, and rapings. Harald reformed around a banner carrier along with 300 men, and after 100 bowmen fired their bows at the Lapps they charged in fury. It was all over in minutes as the Norwegians pushed the Lapps off the battlefield with their superior technology, and organization. Finally it looked as if the Lapps would not bother Narvik again. 3 days later on a rainy, cool day a courier came in saying that Hammerfest had been burned, and all the residents had been killed. Harald knew that he could have done nothing for them, but he still felt guilty in his heart.
