Then just tell us why you are making the decisions you are making. That is what I meant in my post. You described a lot of what is happening in the game, but you didn't often explain why you are making certain decisions.
I mean, maybe doing a difficult research before an easy one is a very good choice, but you didn't really say anything about that choice.
There doing it RP as rejected mushroom species who want to make friends, their researching anomlies what will get them contact with 'friends'.

To me it sounds like he is sort of roleplaying the Blorg and as such trying to make choices that make sense from that perspective. I don't get the sense that this has anything to do with showing the optimal way to play.
I very much enjoyed that way of doing things, it looks like the focus is on showing the game while having fun with it. Seems rather sensible to me.

For a moment see it from their point of view: You have to make a stream for a game that is a 4x/grand strategy hybrid before it releases. This stream is the first part of a let's play/youtube tutorial 8 weeks before anyone can play it. With this stream you try to sell your game to both veterans of the genres and newcommers. Let that sink for a moment and remember the first time you started with CK/EU.

Does it not make sense to explain first everything that is on the screen and how it interacts, instead of just seeing a guy clicking buttons you may not know and talking why he does it whith concepts that you may not be familiar with? I guess that in further episodes they will explain more why they do what at a certain moment, once all their audience has assimilated the core concepts and interactions and are able to follow the "stream of thought" easily.

Yeah I sort of get that but, at least in my opinion, RP shouldn't be the only reason for decisions if your trying to present and educate about the game. And considering how many long explanations he did in the stream I do think that it is supposed to be educational concerning the gameplay mechanics. So he should mention gameplay reasons as well as rp-reasons.
Like, for example, watch the video that Quill18 did that released just yesterday. They also did a lot of roleplaying with their species, but they also did always consider gameplay reasons for their decisions and explained them accordingly. It still didn't go very well, since none of the playing parties had any experience with the game, but it was presented a lot better than the stream.

Yes, which is exactly why I want Wiz to explain his decisions with gameplay-reasons.
"To make friends" is a pretty entertaining reason for decision-making from a roleplaying perspective, but it doesn't provide any insight into the game or the underlying mechanics. And you can explain decisions both with roleplaying and gameplay-reasons.
I am also not attacking Wiz or trying to make him feel bad. I am trying to give constructive criticism so that he can do it better in the future.

I think the difference is that you watch the stream to learn how to play and how to play the game well. It's just a difference of perspective and I can easily see that from your perspective the Stream isn't what is needed. I personally think that the way they are doing it is better as a presentation of the game than if they go into details about decisions and try to play the game the optimal way.

Maybe, but as I said I don't have a problem with doing roleplaying, just with completely ignoring the gameplay mechanics behing it (Or at least not mentioning them at all).
As i said Quill18's video is in my opinion a good example on how to do it. They do a lot of roleplaying and having fun with the game as well, but they explain their decisions as well. And they do make some decisions for purely rp-reasons, but mostly also consider gameplay. That would be the best of both worlds for both people that want some fun rp and people that want some good gameplay.

I'm guessing that there's a plan behind the apparent mistake of picking xenophile militarist repugnant? More so with the story about Blorg being eternal rejects.

That part is roleplaying. Not teching for a few months does not matter because research pools (you can't burn all pooled instantly though), and cheapest tech is not always better.

I was genuinely concerned that the amoeba was heading straight for the Blorg system. I'm guessing getting your initial fleets/stations wrecked be a bit of a setback.

Yes, which is exactly why I want Wiz to explain his decisions with gameplay-reasons.

Me too, but I also remember when I first launched CK II with no previous grand strategy experience. I closed it after a few minutes because I didn't understand anything of what was going on and what the game wanted from me. Then I watched some of Arumbas tutorial series and was able to enjoy the game. Where I'm trying to go is that for teaching such massive and complex games, you first have to set the "language": what is on the screen, what does what, how do you do things, what do they cost, etc. before explaining the details of why you do things. If you try to explain why you do things before people know what they are, they will feel overstrained.

With this stream they have set that "language", that newcommers needed to catch up. Expect more and more reasoning of actions and deeper explanation of mechanics and their interactions in future episodes.

I think the difference is that you watch the stream to learn how to play and how to play the game well. I watch the stream to learn about the game and it really improves it for me that they are having fun with it so I can have fun watching it. It's just a difference of perspective and I can easily see that from your perspective the Stream isn't what is needed. I personally think that the way they are doing it is better as a presentation of the game than if they go into details about decisions and try to play the game the optimal way.

This is pretty much my approach to streaming Stellaris, I want to make sure that we're having fun while we're playing it as it does engage a larger audience. I can totally understand that there are other fans that want a more technical approach to the game. And I think we'll get to cover that part too, but as an initial offering I think the cheerful fun approach gives us more viewers that are hyped about Stellaris.

We want to give those that have not tried earlier grand strategy games a way to dip their toes in the grand strategy pool, and we do that by making sure the game seems approachable. More player means more opportunities for larger MP games and more mods. :)

Another Question: When watching the stream i noticed that all the planets had circular orbits around the star, while the moons had circluar around their planets. I know that most of the planets have elipitical orbits and some are even tiltet (Example the dwarf planet pluto).

Will this also be in the game or is it at least moddable?
