Can you provide proof that the article is outdated? Or are you really trying to say that the article has not been verified for HOI4 version 1.9.3?
Can you provide formula (which would counter what Air warfare has to say about overcrowding penalties), where 44% penalty reduced by 30% (which is listed in Naval doctrine article as 20%, btw) results in penalty of 22%? Pretty sure it was calculated as an example (in the afromentioned "good old days") and no one bothered to correct math or - better yet - provide a link to Air warfare article that explains how said penalty is calculated.

Which reminds me: since "Sortie Efficiency" is "Mission Efficiency" of naval combat (representing amount of planes participating), does it really work when buffed over 100%? Or is it what makes overcrowding work: that extra efficiency (which is wasted otherwise) negates overcrowding penalty, allowing for few extra planes?

@HugsAndSnuggles ,

You appear to be confusing the air base overcrowding penalty (see air base capacity) with the aircraft carrier overcrowding penalty (see Deck size carrier overcrowding). These are not the same things.

The example given in the wiki for carrier overcrowding was written by me on September 11, 2018 and was based on in-game tests for HOI4 version 1.5 (no formulas involved). The carrier overcrowding was originally written in the Definitions and terminology section of the Naval doctrine page, but was added to the Ships page Base stats section on December 27, 2018 and eventually removed from the Naval doctrine page on January 4, 2019.

I would like to run an in-game test to verify that the example is still correct, unfortunately I am involved in another project at this time. Perhaps you or someone else could run a test to verify the wiki?

You're correct, sortie efficiency above 100% is wasted so overcrowding makes sense then (and likely only then).

Perhaps, but math is suspiciously the same: an extra plane would result in 46/45 = 1.0[2], which is where 4.4% penalty comes from (excess % of planes times two).

Right... who needs a simple buff to carrier capacity when you can have a dozen extra variables doing essentially the same thing?
Sometimes I wonder what kind of twisted, masochistic mind comes up with these convoluted rules. Do they, perhaps, hold a competition to select the least intuitive idea? >.>
