Hi Everyone,

I've been having issues with air and naval units - the situation I describe below covers the air unit issue but the same applies for naval units.

I'd built up an 8 squadron close air support unit and assigned it to a corp that I intended to be the main focus of an attack during a campaign. I gave the corp an objective and let the AI do most of the work.
When I came to re-assign the air unit to a different corp later in the campaign I found that the AI had split the 8 squadron air unit into four 2 squadron air units. This had caused me to run out of air commanders and I had several small air units without commanders.

My question is two fold-
1) Is it possible to tell the AI not to split my air units in future?
2) Does it actually make a difference if an air unit does not have a commander provided the air unit is attached to a higher army command?

1) In HoI3 the AI will do that, we've added an option in Semper Fi were you can decide if the AI is allowed to regorganise units or not
2) Yes Air units only get bonuses from their commander.

1) No, if it's automated then the AI may split it. Although a stack of 8 has a -80% penalty, so the AI is doing you a favour here :) Or if you have SF there's a seperate toggle for allowing the AI to re-organise your OOB or not.

2) Yes.
