Although interceptors do get a bonus vs bombers and are cheaper than fighters.

They aren't much cheaper- Interwar fighters are treated as interceptors, so FTR 0 is the same as INT F 2. A marginal difference of 1 or 2 IC. Almost nothing.

Over the 150 days taken to build them a difference of 1 IC per day = 150 IC.

That's enough for...ok, not much, but it's still a saving. INT 0 also has a historical date 1 year before FIG 2, so you can get them into production sooner.
