I am not so sure I entirely approve of the name of Land Corps. Seems so against the spirit of the AAR.

The Emperor will soon need the Trieste to review his fleet.
The Japanese can release all the sailors of their remaining ships and man them solely with admirals it seems.

Btw Anonymous; isn't it risky to ferry those troops in that small fleets? I would at least use 6 transports to move 3 troops for example.

So you are ferrying troops across the Pacific, I guess we just have to hope that the naval bombers have done their work and that there are no Japanese fleets out there, that might destroy your land corps…Hope they get to Japan without suffering casualties. Looking forward to see how it works out :)

Gen. Charles A. Willoughby said:
The rate and probable continuity of Japanese reinforcements into the Kyushu area are changing the tactical and strategical situation sharply. . . . Massing in present attack sectors is evident. Unless the use of these [communications] routes is restricted by air and/or naval action . . . enemy forces in Southern Kyushu may be still further augmented until our planned local superiority is overcome, and the Japanese will enjoy complete freedom of action in organizing the area and in completing their preparations for defense.

-"Amendment No. 1 to G-2 Estimate of the Enemy Situation with Respect to Kyushu," G-2, AFPAC, 29 July 1945, CARL

Island Hopping, Part XXIII
Operation Mauve Angler, Part I
Drop In

With Central Honshu and Shikoku in our hands, the Japanese still surround us to the south and to the north. This operation will have the aim of eliminating the southern part of that equation, with American forces securing the island of Kyushu as well as clearing western Honshu of Japanese forces.

The Operation begins with the dropping of the First and Fourth Corps onto Fukuoka.

And our two Corps battle it out with a four-division garrison

While Spaatz and his airmen assist them from above.

Lt. Gen. Kawabe's command quickly crumbles.
screensave505cc4.jpg

And a victory is achieved.
screensave506pq6.jpg

Patton is looking sharp. Also note the Offensive supply.
screensave507hb7.jpg

Now an attack on Hiroshima is launched by the Fifth Drop Corps, while the First and Fourth support. Meanwhile the Third continues its journey to Tokyo.
screensave508ny9.jpg

Hiroshima is, of course, defended by Lt. Gen. Subhash Chandra Bose, the leader of the Indian National Army. Makes perfect sense.

Victory is easily won and Marshall moves in.

So the Home Islands are well and truly yours - save for Hokkaido I guess and the north of Honshu, unless you took them when I wasn't looking.

Well done securing the Home Islands, now you only need to take care of the islands to the north and you have taken all of the Japanese islands. Then it is time to attack Korea and then fly into China.

Great job so far !

I suppose that you're using air supply for your troups in Japanese mainland ? If yes, how much ressources does it use up to resupply that many troups by air ? (I don't even know if you have to send specific transport planes to do the task...)

For the unknowing: Chandra Bose *did* command troops for the Japanese during the Second World War. He wasn't *too* find of the British :D

Where the AI places him is not of my concern :D

Gen. Douglas MacArthur said:

In my opinion, there should not be the slightest thought of changing the OLYMPIC operation. Its fundamental purpose is to obtain air bases under cover of which we can deploy our forces to the northward into the industrial heart of Japan. The plan is sound and will be successful.

Island Hopping, Part XXIV
Operation Mauve Angler, Part II
North and South

Meanwhile, the rest of Kyushu is defended by practically nothing guys.
screensave511ck9.jpg

And Bradley's Third Drop Corps reaches Tokyo, and starts heading north for Fukushima. Hopefully he can get there before the Manchukuoan troops in Akita can!
screensave523bb9.jpg

But Bradley won't be alone as every Drop Corps except the Fourth starts moving east.
screensave524gk1.jpg

The Fourth, meanwhile, begins to swat aside the lone garrison on Kagoshima.
screensave525pj1.jpg

It's not like it's unexpected.
screensave527zp7.jpg

And the Third succeeds in reaching Fukushima first!
screensave529lx8.jpg

The battle against the Manchukuoans fighting under the Japanese flag is short-lived.
screensave530za1.jpg

screensave531lg6.jpg

And with the taking of Kagoshima, Operation Mauve Angler is a complete success. The Fourth Drop Corps begins the redeployment to Honshu, as a straight crossing both takes too long and has the possibility of being intercepted. In fact, Strat Redeployment between islands has become SOP.

I'm curious as to options after Hokkaido. Taiwan - in keeping with the island strategy? Or Korea, to kick off the mainland war, albeit with just a limited front? Or somewhere completely different.

Why don't you just ally the nationalists and just support them against Japan, or just let Japan wither in the mainland since they won't be able to supply their troops.
