Has one of the devs mentioned something about the air missions?

I hope finally we will be able to give Bombers precise commands for example to bomb London instead of east-England!
And interceptors will finally do what they should-> to intercept! ;)
I mean they should have an option or mission to intercept automatic spotted enemy planes and not do the same like fighters.
Just like they do in Hoi2 if a carrier attacks the port...

Fighters should be used to get air supremacy before the bombers can launch their attack, but interceptors must operate automatic perhaps assigned to the skill of the commanding air-general, radar-techs, reconnaissance etc.

Last i hope we could order the CAS to operate together with the troops as was in history. Give mission to support X Corps and the CAS should do their job and not attack some useless garrison 200km behind the frontline

These improvements would definitely add more depth to air tactics.

May not be a popular choice, but I think it would be nice to see air warfare abstracted - you base units who give automatic bonuses to nearby units. Bombers for example could be ordered to hit logistics that would provide erosive modifiers on certain province's infrastructure modifiers. Ideally you'd do it province by province, so that you could focus where you need to. Adding escorts would provide automatic cover to these forces, and nearby fighters/interceptors would be assigned to fly sorties to fight them. Rather than clumsily manouvreing division-esque air units, you could more properly manage the air war as a process that took place over large areas over large spaces of time. No idea how easy it would be to code and implement, but it strikes me as a more elegant way of dealing with it all.

To clarify, say it's 1940 and the Battle of Britain is kicking off. I could deploy my units to air bases in the north of France, and give them orders to fly sorties in provinces that have UK air bases, directed against those air bases themselves. I'd base escorts with them, who'd automatically provide air defense and attack modifiers. I'd also assign fighters to patrol the region and hunt enemy fighters. The strength and org of the unit could still be on a 'counter' like HoI2, but rather than zooming across the board and fighting if they meet an enemy stack, they could be considered as launching various battles in various provinces. Could be considered the 'movement is attack' for air units - air units have the ability to attack out of their base province into any province in range, defensible by any opposition air units also in range.

One thing for sure, the air unit should and its leader should gain experience based on the mission rather than a blanket air exp. modifier. Strat bombing could gain experience, but at a low rate.

Why ?
Why a strategic bombardment wing leader would be less talented than a fighter wing leader ?
Strategic bombardment tactics are as complex as fight tactics.

i still hate to see my close air support bombers completely ignore the front line and go bombing some static division super entrenched at the limit of their fuel

To be honest, I had problemens with the air missions as long as I can think off... the whole concept and effects where never realy clear for me and I was just sucked, that the did not fight the province I would like to focus on..

beside that, the story of giving missions a fixed time range was annoying... because normaly I do not know how long my land units need to conquer the province..

I would like to see more "Support" mission... like "suppot my first army by whatever it is doing" ... this would be helfpful!

Strategic bombardment tactics are as complex as fight tactics.

In HoI2, both an air unit and its leader on strategic bombing missions gain NO experience. This is because they would gain it very fast, and your strat leaders would all be skill 7 before you knew it. This is due to the blanket exp gain for all units of a particular branch. So, they made Strat bombing a dead end for exp. But I would like to see the units and leaders gain exp for this mission.

I'm actually quite fond of Curtis LeMay. Man knew how to win a war.

On topic, I throw my vote for at least the choice to target specific provinces. Keep the area based attacks, but give me a choice. I've always found it frustrating when I want my aircraft to soften up the enemy, and they proceed to attack some unit way behind the lines instead. I know that the engine will have them "fly to the sound of the guns", but in WW II and even today, aircraft are a little more precise than East England. Sometimes, you might not want that (so keep the original system), but sometimes you do, so give me a choice.
