I am playing AOD 1.08 with the Third Reich Mod.

It's June 1939, and I'm getting ready for war.

Unfortunately, it seems the leader limits for the air force are nerfed for some reason. Perhaps a change in the mod?

Instead of the progression 4-8-12-16, it has limits of 1-2-4-?.

This is way too low. Does anyone know how I go about changing it?

You are probably correct. I've never really worried about it. Once the leader is overstacked, autopromote kicks in and the four stack air limit gets the correctly qualified leader. Gringo probably did this to stop a human player using multiple 4 stacks (in the same battle) from overpowering the AI's smaller group of air units and causing the total destruction of several AI air units. It is now much harder to totally destroy the AI's air units in combat, but can still be done. And the higher leader rank means that leader experience will increase much more slowly. Gringo can advise, he probably wanted smaller air battles although the AI doesn't mind dropping 8 to 10 air units in a single battle.
If you really want to change this, it is done in one of the miscellaneous bits 'n pieces \dB text files (currently dont have AoD available so cant give you the exact file name).

Yes, it is found in the misc.txt file in \db directory. Look for "Air Leader Command Limit" in the file. Gringo has left his mark here with the comment: "#gringo cut all air values down"

Autopromote makes you miss out on free promotions so I don't use it.

In any case I found the file in question. It's titled "misc" and located in the db folder.

I also edited the army command limits so that major generals command 3 divisions and lt generals 6. Perhaps gamey/ahistorical, but the management burden of single divisions all over the place for a great power is too much. Now I have no units smaller than corps.

Think promoting is "free" whether done using auto or manually. At least it's free in so far as no experience lost with promotion in 1.08.

But yah, don't recommend letting AI do anything you can do yourself. :D
