Podcat actually explained what is going on in the current Hungary campaign. He said the way daniel plays the game (overall he is a QA, this is his job) he makes it really hard if not impossible for the AI to properly react. Thats why he could basicly eat up austria and czechoslovakia without much if any resistance from the other european nations. Daniel knows how to game the system and thats what he does. Sure, the ai isnt perfect and never will be, but maybe thats why you arent already playing the game yourself.
The game is still in development for over a month and keep in mind that this built they are playing is melting hot. It was completed just minutes before they started streaming. Just as with Stellaris stuff that is actively worked on while they are playing tends to break from time to time.
