So I did a Hansa game with AoW to check out things.. I was surprised to find that the Hansa starts out so strong - I think I had 10k ducats in my treasury by 1470 and no coalitions ever formed against me, though I did decide to stay small in Europe and focus on trade and colonization.
Anyway, I really wish the AI would be just a little more competent and challenging in the trade game. As much fun as it is to redirect the entire worlds trade to Lübeck, it gets a bit stale when no one opposes you. As evidenced by these pictures:

Really, any competent player would put 200 light ships in the ivory coast or carribean node and force me to fight for my money or rethink my trade network - though I suppose it doesn't help that the naval powers keeps fighting each other (and me) and they are hopeless at rebuilding their fleets.
Also, I am pretty sure there is a bug somewhere with colonial nations force limit calculations since my naval force limits are somewhere near 900 and I don't have a single level 5 naval building
I don't even have to do anything when the other 'colonial powers' declare war on me.. my 100+ ship trade fleets sinks anything that tries to challenge me....
A quick disclaimer that I don't usually play singleplayer, the AI simply stopped being any sort of a challenge in EU since I started playing multiplayer back in EU2 - that said, I do think EU4 is by far the best game for singleplayer out of all the iterations.
That's all I wanted to say
Was a bit.. frustrated I suppose. I really wanted to finish this game and finally play an ironman game to the end date, but it seems a bit pointless to play through the remaining century chasing just a few more ducats when you are already the worlds unquestioned superpower.
