Forgive me if this has been asked before but looking through the AI files, all are set to switch 'no'. Is this correct? The ai_file_doc says that the default is yes, so why isn't that reflected in my AI files? Perhaps a change for 1.3? If it's WAD then fine but otherwise I will change it.

Also, I have played four straight games in a row as the UK (1.3b, Starfire F3b, SMEP 4.0) right up to at least 1944 in all) and in every single Germany and USSR have failed to go to war, which I'm sure you can imagine has screwed up my games :) . I reload every three months so as to make sure the AI refreshes itself, I don't know if it is necessary or not but it can't do any harm. Which file would I alter to make a German-Soviet war a near certainty?

There's a couple ways you could make the Soviets and Germans always goto war.

First, you can create an ai only event that will fire randomly from certain set dates based on certain circumstances. So you could create an event that creates war between Germany and Russia if:

Paris has fallen (by province id)
Vichy exists (exists = VIC)
Russia and Germany are not at war already or allied (unholy alliance)
Date is > 1940 < 1943
equals: war which = GER SOV

Obviously that isnt written in event code, but thats the jist of an event that would work for this purpose. To make it ai only, put ai=yes in the event.

The other option you have is to edit either the GER or SOV ai file so that they have a high propensity to declare war on someone (by using the war = # at the top, generally 25 and above makes them pretty war mongering). In your case, you want the USSR to DOW on Germany or vise versa, thus one would have a high war rating and a high combat rating. To add in a combat section with hate towards the germans in the ussr file, it would look like this:

combat = {
GER = 100 #USSR hates Germany
}

Look in the ai file doc for more.
