So... you're saying that, ie, the AI doesn't know it has 20k in province x so it doesn´t use them and the AI doesn't know it has 200d and 2 colonist so it doesn't send colonists and so on...

Interesting... and no doubt it would explian a lot.

I think (can anyone support this?) that some times I atack an enemy AI army (sleeping) and after they retreat they keep sleeping.

Hi all,

I began to check out Peter E's theory about relations and DOW's, before Johan replied. But I'll still show my findings. Well, I figured that if it were related to relations, than it shouldn't be related to time between reloads. Meaning that if I waited a year before reloading, I should get roughly the same amount of DOW's as if I waited 5 years.

But I found that the number of DOW's, peaces, vassalizations, and other diplomatic actions in the first few days after a reload ARE related to the amount of time between reloading. So if I wait a year, I might get two or three DOW's. On one reload after 5 years, there was close to 20 DOW's, amazing.

If these odd diplomatic actions do indeed mean that these countries have just "awakened", this means that AI's drift off to sleep over a period of time, perhaps after a particular event or calculation (who knows?), and the longer the player waits to reload, the worse it will be.

It would seem that maybe the AI just forgets it has Merchants, colonists and diplomats.

Do sleeping AI's have 6 diplomats? In otherwords does a sleeping AI do anything that requires a diplomat.

(edit: This may make me suspicious of events that give 5 diplomats or merchants. Maybe the AI does not register these added diplomats correctly)
