Before 1.24 AI didn't make their rulers general but you developers couldn't stand with it right?

Can't you make patches without braking the game features for Flying Spaghetti Monster's sake?

After epic janissary failure, is it that hard?

In 5 of them Ottoman starting ruler died before 25 years old
4 of them he died before 35 yo
and only in one of them he lived until the 1480s.

If it's the Ottoman government they tend to evade it a lot more due to events, making the risk well worth it.

The real world Mehmet II was a general, was nicknamed "the Conqueror", and died at the age of 49 after falling ill when leading an army...

Also, when you make a 6 MIL ruler into a general you usually get a good one, especially when you are at low army tradition. Granted, this is less useful now we have the estate interaction for a guaranteed 40 tradition general... But saying it's just saving 50 mil points is a bit wrong. You need to spend a bit more than 50 mil points to roll a general as good as a randomly rolled Mehmet II.

Maybe they should just give more prestige to ruler-generals in the first age. After all it was still assumed to very normal for rulers to lead their armies.

It's funny to see people not to throw in "because history!" argument now, too.

I honestly have no clue how difficult it would be to code this, but wouldn't it be possible to make the AI appoint their rulers as generals if one of these two conditions is fulfilled (and only then):
1. It has an heir who doesn't have more than, say, three monarch points less than the current ruler
2. the ruler is a conqueror, a bold fighter, an inspiring leader or a tactical genius (and, quite obviously, a craven ruler should never be a general)

And, regarding Mehmet II, let me the the one to scream "because history!", please. As pointed out, he actually did command armies and risk his own skin in battles. Why would it be wrong for the Ottoman AI to take that risk, too? A ruler appointed general is not certain to die, after all - and a competent monarch-general can be worth the gamble.

Is it that unrealistic that someone is a competent or even brilliant general, but a mediocre/awful ruler?
Ulysses S. Grant, Paul von Hindenburg or Philippe Pétain come to mind as historical examples. (And I am sure there are more, and probably also some from the EU4 timespan; the point is the evident one that ruling a country doesn't require the exact same skillset as leading an army).

Can we maybe just make it so king-generals don't die faster? There doesn't really seem to be ANY historical context for that to be true. If they're in battle they die, but why would a king not leading an army in battle die faster? Not to mention many many many many kings were actually the leaders of the army, and very few of them were dying early deaths.

I fail to see an issue with it with him becoming a general. He probably had amazing pips, and with how often the Ottoman AI winds up fighting Hungary's army with Albania's general in the mountains....

It would be nice if they added an age mechanic where General Kings got some kind of benefit in the first age. Something like a bonus to morale. I don't know if there is a provable historical precedent to men fighting harder with their king on the battle field, but it seems like a thing I've heard before. I've heard several instances of an army breaking hard at the rumor of a kings death, so maybe?

Agreed. I could maybe see an increased death chance for drilling but just sitting at court is silly. What, are the medals being pinned to his chest giving him tetanus?

Also think it would be really cool if using a ruler/heir general was a risk/reward thing wherein winning battles could give you some legitimacy.

How about Paradox stop penalizing making rules generals? In history fairly few rulers have been killed in battle, more often they have been captured. This could be easily simulated by making battles more decisive on WS on which rulers are participating.

Why you all weird guys have to be ......, you got this. We are talking about AI here not player. AI ottomans don't have monarch power problems since ROM got out if you don't know..

Did the AI ever stop assigning good rulers as generals? Must have missed that.
Before ROM they were appointing them as generals but they stopped with institues dlc i guess. It stands at least for ottomans.

Business puts requirements, that then is constructed into documentation that can be executed by test automation rig. And all of that is created before first line of code is created. Then we write a code, then the code is executed against that documentation. It's not easy, it's not perfect, but at least we know why we are trimming timezone from all dates and how we do in one god forsaken project that was created by a contractor 2 years ago.

TLDR;

Guys I highly recommend to hire someone that knows a thing or two about QA. And I am not saying yet another tester, but knowledgeable guy that knows all those things about tools to use and languages that deliver them.

Before ROM they were appointing them as generals but they stopped with institues dlc i guess. It stands at least for ottomans.
Ai does still USE monarch power although so pointing out that the decision saves MP is a real factor. Just saying.
