Well I have expericed some times that the enemies armies fallling a sleep, meaning that they would simply stand in one province while my armies marched by them capturing all the other provinces.. :D But usually they would wake up a again after some time, and if not would a simple spy action, like causing troop desertion wake'em up.

But then again, that could be because I'm playing with a mod.. :eek:o

I've seen that without mods though it doesn't appear too common. I haven't noticed the ai falling asleep in terms of no longer declaring war or colonising as was the old problem.

I am.

I guess i got a good AI...
It is a vulture, as soon as I drag myself into a war with a country nearly my size, and as soon as I feel happy that some progress has been made and I head for the capital, my strongest neighbour DoWs me...
I don`t think it`s sleeping, it`s deliberately sabotaging me :)
It just has to choose the right moment (most of my armies reduced to less than 50%, BUT still winnning and DoW!)...
Made me want to reload but i took it like a man... (persia wiped the floor with me while my troops were fighting in gaza and heading for cairo) not only did the AI attack my provinces, but it also attacked the mameluk provinces controled by me(they are not allies)... it directly influenced the war, just to screw me up...
Anyway, got away with it by swiftly concluding peace with Mameluks (better then they excepted), and recruiting mercenaries (still had to pay over a 100 ducats to make peace, but I took it gladly)
So, the AI is smarter than before (maybe because I`m playing on hard), definitely not sleeping, just being patient...

In one of my games a spanish 26,000 army has not moved at all, i have just moved around them taking provinces. Was dissapointing.
I've seen similar things several times - a/the major AI army will stop reacting and just sit, usually in the capital, while I swarm round it with smaller forces and take all the other provinces. I don't think it's the old "sleeping AI" though. I've never seen the traditional rush of wars and colonists after a reload.

EUII was infamous for it's ai sleeping problem. Is this problem still occurring in EUIII? I haven't played the game enoguh yet to notice it.

I haven't seen it in any of my games to date. But then again, I have only five full games games under my belt yet (and only one in 1.21).

the only time i've noticed enemy armies standing around is after they'd been soundly whomped a couple of times. i just figured they'd had enough.

AI does not get nearly as inactive when sleeping, but I have noticed that when I load save games, Ai does act a little more active.

However, if it wasn't for loading, I would never suspected AI sleeping.

So, it is more like AI surging at the beginning.
