AI seems to really like giving gifts

I'm OK with free resources but having an AI just randomly give me 5K energy credits 30 years into a game is kind of weird. And it wasn't just one, all my neighbours end up doing that usually right after the other. I went from 400 credits to 12k in a month lol

It seems to be the devs attempting to reward friendly play. I bet you are playing Xenophile, have Charismatic or the empires giving gifts are Xenophile.

i got a 800 energy donation just a couple of years into the game on scaling difficulty, seems the ai just focusses too much on energy? later in the game i kept selling strategic resources for 10000s of credits

Yes, I was occasionally getting 3000-5000 from various neighbors in what I would consider the early part of the game. It helped a lot, but the most I had was a Non-Aggression Pact with any of them, and I was wondering if it was really working as designed.

Had the same thing happen to me when I was f. mil/auth. I think their just bribing you not to plow them.

That might be it. Doing a Democratic Crusader game right now (F Egal/Mil) and a few empires are giving gifts. Maybe its a new hidden perk of Militarist?

I thought it was a bug but based on what Wiz says it's intentional and is now part of AI behavior. It looks like now regardless of ethics and other things, AI can decide that they like you and start giving you things.
