Known problem, we are trying to find the right balance between the AI dealing with active fronts (against France) and future fronts )against Belgium and the Netherlands). Trying to get this balance right isn't easy. At the moment the AI is not keen enough to get troops there, if we make it too keen then the French are over the Rhine. Something we know about and are looking to improve, without making things worse.

Why should we need to do cursing and trixing? If I need to do that I might as well control each unit myself or leave the whole theatre to the AI.

The first option is a micromanagement night mare though and the second makes you fell watching a movie.

Can you answer this one please, king.

AI is not exact science. So we keep tweaking and improving it. We will look to continue to do that.

I don't know the inner workings but with the experience of three major patches and one expansion I am pretty sure you need a new approach for the player AI and not just tweaking the number in order to make it strictly obey orders. If you pull it off, HOI3 will be the greatest game ever.

The invasion AI received a complete rewrite for SF so we do do this if we feel it is neccessary. However Doomdark thinks this is a tweaking issue at the moment.

I'm saying that once the AI achieves its current objective, it stops working completely, even if you give it a new one. While not a big issue if you want it to defend, if you're attacking and the AI reaches its objectives then the attack will stop until you save and reload. This happens for the entire hierarchy. So, if an Army has its AI set and it reaches Amsterdam for example, the Army and Corps AI won't work at all, even if you remove AI control at the Army level and set the corps to AI control. I've seen it during my AAR, and Surt has in his latest AAR as well, so I'm curious to see if anything has been done about it (my guess is no).

Most people don't notice because all of the AI's objectives need to be met for this to happen, or they control units manually, or don't play long enough to see it happen.

Not seeing this in SF anyway. Started as GER in '40, set OKH to take BEL and HOL's capitals. They happily took them then continued into Franch. I then set Paris as a new objective and they started heading for it.
