this thread is made purely for talking about AI behaviur , strange behaviur , bugs .

no criticizing or opinion in what should be made or not .

some fast observation :
  1. using the console command "observe" will bug the AI that will use your empire ( not sure if its because i was playing - removed autogenerator of ship) , the AI will not build fleet.
  2. some AI ( in my game 2 on 15 ) don't build fleet ( one of those are the empire that i was playing) .
  3. the AI will build fleet and have a stable economy , but will not build buildings on some planets , or try to fix "complete" planet problem.
  4. the AI will build habitats , but it will not colonize them . ** ( seems they occasionaly colonize habitats, but will not build much on them , 1-2 districts)
  5. the AI will build starbases , even over the limit , it will kinda specilize them( with anchorage and some bastions at least), but will not use all modules in many cases , nor build . starbases builded over the limit will be left empty.
  6. as in 1.9 - 2.1 AI will not even try to advance in enemy territory if theyr fleet power is too low in respect the enemy fleet power+station ( or at least thats what i thought) , some IA will try anyway, while other will just stay sit and wait. thats why sometime the AI will declare war ( thinking to have more fleetpower) but will not move ( since your( with "your" i mean the enemy, AI or player) fleetpower and starbase are too hight)
thats all i could get after letting the game go for 200 years , while i was sleeping , and after i went to work .

8. AI of Gestalt (at least of hivemind) will not remove trade modules/buildings from starbases it conquers (or to be precise: at least some will still be left even decades after the capture).

9. the autogenerated ships will not mount XL weapons or T weapons ( at least for the AI )

i'm at 2450 now, some basic empire even go around with more than 100k fleets power ( never saw in 2.1) some other with 4k .

10. autogenerated ships still prefer to put afterburners on evrything , the AI doesn't change that.

11. AI will not build any kind of deposit , not on planet or starbases.

12. in 24 empires, no one took megastructures ; but all perk were used ( even xenocompability)

13. the AI will hardly destroy aggressive space creatures, they prefer to let them have the sistem.

14. AI sometimes ( as in pre-2.0 and 2.1 ) bugg out with armyes, not sending them on the planed bombed , and just bomb planets for years .

15. pretoryion scourge will not colonize any free planet ( they see them as 0 habitability) , and planet conquered by pretoryion will just keep working normaly , they don't purge pops .

16. seems the AI don't upgrade buildings

17. Ai will not build gateways . ( awakened empires will build them, and regolar AI will open closed one)

19. seems the AI not always colonize planet , even while they are 100% habitable with some of theyr pops. leaving them alone.( i mean in the years , ofc not about early game- midgame .)

20. AI will not repair building

21. AI some times just dies out , i'm not sure if this is a bug, or an actual intresting features , what its strange its that they just dies out with no much rebelions or the like(shouldnt pops at least rebels before the last of them dies of starvation?)

Have you made detailed bug reports in the official bug forum? That may help with some of these

i know, but more than anything i would confirmation , for example point 17. its not entirely true , Awakened empires will build gateways , alot of them .

22. the AI seems to build federation fleets only while at war ( not the president of the federation)

22. AI never demote pops to lower classes on purpose. It's a hard decision even for a player, because pops need 5-10 year of sitting around to realize that they're getting nothing and move on. But I've seen an AI, that never moved out of his planet because somehow he managed to have so many ruler and specialist jobs that not a single pop was working on basic resources. Must be pre-space empire.

23. AI will occasionally get stuck in a loop repeating certain actions. I once observed the AI repeatedly toggle the Prevent Growth decision on and off every ~3 game days. Wish I had a save file to demonstrate, but I'd been playing Ironman and didn't think to grab my savefile when I first saw this. (The problems with playing late at night, right?)

25. Empires with advanced starts will normally have a high amount of instability and crime, and spend most of their advantage on building precinct buildings trying to counter their crime / stability.

I have seen the blocker issue. You notice that even without observer mode if you have eyes on enemy planets. The AI does build up its planets. It may not use its strategic resources on upgrades, but I have seen many planets that were sensibly developed and even in the plus on most or all resources. But then it can't develop them further because they aren't removing even low tech blockers like kelp forests.
I've seen some questionable decisions like not turning a planet with a dozen mineral deposits into a mining world.

I have gotten messages that the AI has built gateways

One thing worth checking might be how the AI builds anchorages. Fleet capacity is pretty hard to come by now as it doesn't scale with pops. So you really needs lots of anchorages + logistics office. Though I doubt the tiny AI fleets are caused by that

26 The AI does not seem to open the L-Gates anymore.
I'm not sure how long it usually takes, but after 260 years the crisis has arrived and the L-Gates are still closed.

27 Hired Raid fleets will sometimes get stuck at the edge of a system and refuse to leave it even though they have a movement order

28 The spectral wraith is unable to leave its system

The Ai if not bugged, build up alot of fleet capacity , they even when don't build any fleet, still go around 400 of fleet capacity ; but some times AI will not realy care about fleet capacity and go over it. but yea; for the planet they try to balance them for the resource they need , and since they can't\don't upgrade buildings the balancing of planets is on the hard side, some time they build 0 structure to have workers jobs filled.

i had the wraith event , he could go out of the system freely, if you still have the save, post a bug report with the save .

Which is the most ironic thing that happened in this update, since both pdx and whiteknights said that one of the main reasons for planets/economy rework was to make a system that AI could handle better than tiles. Looking at forum, it's currently -worse- than tiles.
P.S. inb4 "blah blah new version blah blah they'll fix it" - well, they didn't fix tile-based AI since 1.0 even though it was possible. Glavius AI, for example. Hell, even Autobuild made better worlds than vanilla monstrosity.
