With Cradle of Civ it seems like the AI rarely (or never) makes its ruler a general anymore. This is important for a few reasons.
One reason is HRE-specific because Burgundy always used to do that, and it is part of the MTTH for the Inheritance. This is not an insignificant factor. BUR having their ruler as a general reduces MTTH by 25% and having their heir as a general also reduces it by another 25%. With a base MTTH of 500 months (41 2/3 years) for an event that gets triggered DURING a war, this is a big deal.
Another reason is simply that AI rulers seem to live a lot longer because they don't have the additional mortality that comes from being a general.
I suspect that the AI does this because it doesn't get any free professionalism points for recruiting a ruler rather than a regular general.
