This is a really smart change. Perhaps in the future it could be made more dynamic, with provinces given to your ally reducing this cooldown time.

Yeah, this isn't the final implementation. I had grander plans but they'll have to wait until after summer.

as someone said before Wiz, I think The player or AI could make multiple promises (to give their claims < trade power < release a nation*HRE* < core) in the diplomacy section when asking for offensive wars and If you fullfill this they will like you more and If you dont they could even break the alliance or maybe even be hostile.

I think that would be awesome with the edition of max 300 dippo truce thing. Because It could give you choise to be greedy or maintain your Alliance. And this makes perfect sence since why would a great power would ever maintain to be ally with small country If there is nothing to be gain?

If you don't fulfill your promises then your trust with your allie drops by a huge lot and your trust for every nation drops by some little 1-4

yea because as small country you can even ask for support indipendence then France&Austria counqers all places for you, then you can even get multiple provinces from your overlord and give nothing to your allies. That abuse has to stop. And they get into some serius debts to what end? If AI should ever take more than 2 loan It should ask for war subsides and If you dont provide that they sure to remember this. And ofcourse that could go bothways.

What about the AI getting upset when you accept the call to arms but don't really help at all just sit around. Or getting a bit upset when they have to do all the work in an offensive war unless the opponent is a rival or has a lot of aggressive expansion. More realistic feelings over what you do or don't do with your allies.


Maybe before you call your ally to war, you have to promise them something and depending on your relations with them they would need larger or smaller promises to participate. From provinces to money to you giving military access or free basing rights for x years or maybe even trade power for a while.

I am always fascinated how some people disagree with some obviously good quality changes, some guys should go back to playing tetris on speed 0...

Also like the idea from above posts, we could get an extra screen on war declaration where AI could say: "I will join the war but i expect to get: A, B, C from the war". If you still call them to war and deny them everything they should be mad, give them half of it they should be at least content if not happy, give them everything they should be ecstatic.

yea that % war score you provided could be handy with that. With It AI is more willing to give provinces (or what you bargained to join war) to you. More warscore you provide AI could more trust you.

Even something as simple as % of the battle warscore which you provided could be good; that way you wouldn't necessarily have to siege provinces. It'd require a smart way for distributing war score in battles with multiple participants, though.

Similarly, if it doesn't exist already, there should be a trust/relations boost for transferring occupied provinces to the war leader. (Probably only those with forts, to prevent cheese.)

It works for player in the same way, AI won't call you more than every 10 years.

As you improve the implementation, can you add a way for the player to offer to join such wars? It seems to me that the player (and the AI for that matter) should be able to say "I know you didn't think I'd want to join another war but this one actually fits well with my current objectives so I'm happy to do so". Of course, the war leader should be able to decline that offer if he doesn't want to help his ally too much ...

I want to add an 'ask to join war' option as a reverse CtA.

As in if an ally isn't calling you in due to distant war modifier (even though it might not be that distant), you can tell the ally that you're good to join him? That'd be good, especially if it boosted trust (as you're going out of your way to help your ally).

Can you tell when that modifier will be applied - what kind of war etc?

I want to add an 'ask to join war' option as a reverse CtA.

I agree with this in principle, but I hope this won't be a return to the unpredictable alliance chains there were in EU3 with the Alliance CB. There has to be some kind of limitation so that it'll still be very clear who'll end up joining a war on both sides.

It is about alliances, when AI judging just on modifiers would not normally call you into his war, but with that you could say, screw modifiers I'm ready for the ride. Nothing with cascading alliances.

Abusing a naive but powerful AI ally to achieve mass conquest was one of the biggest, if not the biggest, immersion breaking tactics out there. Almost every player did it though, and it's not hard to see why. Very happy to see a few constraints put on it.

If the "Ask to join war" option will only be available to the player, I'd be fine with it. Since a player's opinions about a war aren't reflected accurately in modifiers, an AI might misjudge the situation and not call you into a war, in which case the "Ask to join war" option would in fact be helpful. I just don't want AI France to join a war against me two years after it began just because their modifiers changed.
