Hello, I wanted to point out amobea in the galaxy and say... AI also buying too much alloys on the market no matter what cost it is! Alloy prices tend to fly around double of what it starts in game and its so much I tend to find it more attractive to produce alloys to sell rather than producing energy O_O
AI not only cripples itself to produce alloys, it also bankrupts it self to buy all of them in galaxy.

Havent experienced anything like that.
start a new game and check your basic market:Alloys cost 5.20 energy credit each without any modifiers when you got isolated market
when you got to galactic market and don't get nominated to house market yourself(to not net discount for shake of experiment) price tends to fly around 9.2 to 11.5
you can check one of your save games that can see galactic market currently to check price of alloys.
They tend to be so expensive I almost never buy alloys from market unless I got massive energy production like someting from dyson sphere.

I've noticed this too, but it has been true for the longest time. Alloys and exotic gasses tend to be hugely expensive/lucrative.

this means they also buy alloys from market too while they are having negative energy /minerals/food income and not having scientists!

AI not only cripples itself to produce alloys, it also bankrupts it self to buy all of them in galaxy.
AIs don't bankrupt themselves by buying alloys, they buy alloys when they have a large bank of energy and nothing to use it on.

That's pretty much necessary due to how the AI is designed. To have a stable economy, the AI is set to always overproduce pretty much everything, sell it on the market when the stockpile is full, and if things are going well, it accumulates a large surplus that it'll then spend on blackjack and alloys. Otherwise, it'll use that surplus to buy the resources that it actually needs to stay afloat until it can - hopefully - expand its economy to exceed the demand.

AI tends to underproduce alloys so when the war happens they need lots of alloys to replace any losses. This is especially noticeable if multiple wars happen at the same time. During peace prices usually drop somewhat. On harder difficulties AIs are also less likely rely on the market because of the production bonuses they get.

Its not much. I often buy alloys for 20EC per unit, and in times of need (crisis etc.) im buying this for higher price. Around 10 is avarage in my opinion.

Trouble is I thought like this too, alloys are important and required a lot in wars and even at expansions and for robots
but then I saw dev diary, all empires got positive alloy income and everything else is negative allways
but every time they are like "oh I am gonna buy even more alloys"
thats what worrying me
I am not saying AI buying alloy is wrong, I am saying it doing that while having negative everything but alloys is really troubling because they don't buy stuff like consumer's good that much(or food etc...)

Did you read the rest of the dev diary? At the end they show what the AI incomes/stockpiles look like on the 3.2 build(default settings) after ~100years.

Alloys are the only real SPEND resource in the game, everything else is maintance more than it is spending. So it makes perfect sense to me that alloys get bought by the truck load.
Now the problem that alloys are the ONLY thing to spend you can buy, that's the real culprit.

No you were talking about 3.0.3 AI, which has had a number of changes with 3.1, and used a dev diary that talks about changing exactly what you are worried about in the next patch as a source.

The screenshot showed the 3.0 AI. The dev diary was a bit misleading as most of the changes are already implemented and they mostly talked about what they accomplished and less about what they plan to further improve the ai. So the video is from current 3.1.2 reality.

It doesn't bother me too much if the AI is buying alloys, as long as a) it's investing those alloys in fleets, starbases and megastructures and b) its overall economy is large enough to justify that investment. It's inefficient, sure, but it's better than the opposite, where the AI makes too many industrial districts and the whole economy becomes unsustainable due to lack of primary resource gatherers.
