AI (most likely TECH) trade deals

I see all these joker AI countries trading like crazy. In all likelihood, they're exchanging techs. Of course, I know when I trade with them, I have to reverse-engineer all the crap, and take the RP hit. And of course, if I trade a tech TO an AI nation, they don't. So that's obviously not fair, thus I tend to avoid giving techs to the AI... and only acquire techs FROM them when it's exceedingly convenient.

But what about all this "X has concluded a deal with Y" crap? Please tell me they're not all getting a bunch of free techs, all the time... because that would be catastrophically st00p!d.

hard to say, since we do not see the deals they make. But tech is likely one thing that is traded, esp among friendly nations with high relations.

It's always only the initiator of a tech deal that has to pay for it. So if the AI offers you a tech for something (it does happen, usually for a colonial building), you will get the tech without any RP costs.

So in the AI to AI tech deals, I believe (cannot confirm though) that one of them has to pay for the tech with RPs.

Yup, although I've never seen it happen in the game. Sometimes the AI offers you some techs plus 1500 for a colonial building, and that's the only AI offer I've seen.

In my current game, Korea asked me for a 1-for-1 tech deal, about 6 or 7 times at least. I kept saying no, because I thought it'd cost me RP. Oh well! Now I know. But yeah I get it fairly often. I'm not playing Ricky like you guys are.
